Times Square - Notable Sights and Attractions

Landmarks

New York Times Building
The institution for which the neighborhood is named. Although not the Gray Lady's original Times Square headquarters, the building has been home to the 79-time Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization since the 1920s.

Conde Nast Building
Upon entering this megalith, you will be greeted by a large, high-ceilinged foyer that screams minimalism. If you know someone who can get you in, check out the Frank Gehry-designed cafeteria.

U.S. Armed Forces Recruiting Center
The center used to be a drab and depressing space until the New York-based Architecture Research Office (ARO) redesigned it using the neon vernacular of Times Square.

New Victory Theater
Originally built in 1900, the New Victory was a pioneer of its time, aiding in establishing Times Square as a theater district. Through the years, the theater has been tranformed from a respectable venue into a burlesque house, and even into a triple-X movie house; it is now a full-time family entertainment theater.

"Good Morning America"
The "Good Morning America" windows offer you a behind-the-scenes look at the televised morning production, featuring hosts Diane Sawyer, Charles Gibson, Antonio Mora and Tony Perkins, special guests and performances every weekday from 7am to 9am.

"The Today Show"
"The Today Show"'s studio is on ground-floor level at the corner of 49th and Rockefeller Center. Inside, Katie Couric and Matt Lauer tell the country what's going on; outside a crowd of people wave signs and hope to get on television as the show goes to commercial breaks.

"Late Show with David Letterman"
Attracted by the marquee outside the Ed Sullivan Theater, people familiar with the show will recognize some of the nearby shops and eateries Dave likes to frequent and/or terrorize on the air.

"Total Request Live"
Crazed fans await the network's cameras, glimpses of the show's host Carson Daly and, every now and then, a guest like a member of the pop group 'N Sync.
