We love the nightlife. And we know you do too. That's why we've launched our new Best of Citysearch campaign to find out where your favorite places are for after-hours fun. To get you in the spirit, here are a few of my personal favorites ... (Photo: Agaton Strom)

Bowery Ballroom

BEST LIVE MUSIC: I've seen a lot of great shows at the Bowery Ballroom, from Jarvis Cocker to Fleet Foxes, and I'm always impressed at how intimate and beautiful the space is. Most importantly, the venue's downstairs bar isn't just an afterthought; I'd go there even if it wasn't attached to one of the best concert venues in the city.

BEST IRISH PUB: Bartenders that are actually from Ireland! A back patio with a pingpong table! For me at least, there isn't a better place in the city to settle down with a foamy pint or a glass of whiskey. Just be careful when an important soccer, I mean, football match is on, because things can get rowdy.

Me Bar

BEST HOTEL BAR: So it ain't the Rose Bar; in fact, it's located on top of a La Quinta Inn in Koreatown. But that's what makes it so great: a quirky setting, strange tourists and pre-karaoke partiers, drinks at very un-Rose Bar prices and one heck of a view of the Empire State Building.

BEST BEER SELECTION: As a beer nerd, I practically live in this bar. The bartenders are friendly and actually know what they're talking about. There are six beers on tap that change almost nightly, not to mention the cask ale and the hundreds of bottled beers. Did I mention the huge, leafy backyard and delicious cheese plates? When I die, I hope heaven is like this.

Standings
Read Reviews43 E 7th St, New York, NY 10003 (map)
BEST SPORTS BAR: I love Standings because it's a sports bar that doesn't really feel like a sports bar. In fact, with its small, homey interior and excellent beer selection, it feels most like a friendly neighborhood pub--except that it's filled with flat-screen TVs and cheering fans.
