Taking your date to happy hour doesn't exactly scream ?I?m a keeper!-- but the high price of specialty cocktails in this town can practically bankrupt the Average Joe. Luckily, this sexy cocktail den's happy hour lasts until 10pm nightly, with everything from lychee martinis to house wines costing only $5, so you can look suave while saving some cash.
For top-notch Italian food at a reasonable price point, head to this East Village restaurant. The food is fabulous--also fabulously inexpensive--and the place is romantic enough without being awkward. Start out with a pitcher of Via's tasty homemade sangria and a few appetizers; by the time your entrees arrive, you'll be in love.
This no-frills West Village spot is a go-to for cheap eats, most notably its famous falafel sandwich for only $2.50. But while the decor (or absence thereof) may leave something to be desired, you can get your food to go and take a walk to nearby Washington Square Park to get to know your date a little better.
It's said that laughter is the key to a healthy relationship, and this Chelsea comedy club boasts high-quality entertainment at low prices. Tickets are cheap and drinks are cheaper ($2 for a can of PBR), but be sure to reserve in advance as most shows tend to sell out.
You know the saying: ?Behind every good man is a good meatball? (or something like that). This Lower East Side spot is a fun and affordable choice for date night. Use the markers at your table to make selections on the menu, which consists of mix-and-match meatball/side combos, scrumptious subs and more. But be advised: They don't take reservations and there is usually a wait. Leave your number with the hostess and get a drink nearby while you wait for your table.
