The only thing more depressing than a regular Sunday is a Sunday that also happens to be Valentine's Day--especially if you're flying solo. But don't wallow in self-pity this year; instead, embrace your singlehood. From boozy parties exclusively for singles to unromantic stand-up comedy shows, we've got a destination for every Valentine's Day-hating New Yorker this Feb. 14.

Feeling Single, Drinking Doubles

  1. 1 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Sunburnt Cow

137 Avenue C, New York, NY 10009 (map)

It's the third annual No Love at The Cow Valentine's Day party, where singles gather, united by their common love--of booze. Twenty dollars gets you access to a two-hour open bar that includes beer, wine, well drinks and Love Potion shots. And if you happen to meet a suitable future mate, break the ice--literally--with shots from the "ice luge of love." (Feb. 14; open bar starts at 8pm.)

  2. 2 4 Star Rating: Recommended Comix

    353 W 14th St, New York, NY 10014 (map)

Sure, stand-up comedy could be a romantic affair, but not so much when the comic in question is "30 Rock" star Judah Friedlander. His greasy hair and trucker hat combined with his wry, monotone voice pretty much guarantee that you won't have love on the brain after the show. (Feb. 14, 7pm and 9:30pm; $30 plus a two-item minimum or $85 for the dinner package.)

  3. 3 4.5 Star Rating: Recommended Soho House
    Read Reviews

29-35 Ninth Ave, New York, NY 10014 (map)

Head to the swanky MePa District hot spot for the Singles Valentine's Day Brunch. There will be two family-style tables--one for gay singles, one for straight singles--serving brunch and unlimited cocktails starting at 1pm. And if we've learned anything in our years of drinking and dating, it's that unlimited cocktails are key. (Open to hotel guests and members; $45. Call (212) 627-9800 to reserve.)

  4. 4 5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended Housing Works Used Book Cafe

126 Crosby St, New York, NY 10012 (map)

Who needs a boyfriend? Not you, that's for sure. Head to Housing Works' Valentine's Mixer for Gals and Gays, featuring Brooklyn's own lady country trio, Ménage à Twang. The place will be filled with a crowd of single ladies and single men in search of other single men--worst-case scenario, you end up with a new gay BFF when all is said and done. (Feb. 12, 7pm; $10.)

  5. 5 3.5 Star Rating: Average Larry Flynt's Hustler Club
    Read Reviews

    641 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019 (map)

If all else fails, head to Larry Flynt's larger-than-life club on the West Side Highway. Chances are, the only Valentine you'll encounter here is a stripper with poor taste in stage names.

  6. 6 3.5 Star Rating: Average Havana Central Union Square
    Read Reviews

22 East 17th Street, New York, NY 10003 (map)

Sure, we like making out as much as the next guy/girl, but let's be honest: We don't want to make out with anyone who has just eaten something doused in hot sauce. That is decidedly un-sexy--which makes Havana Central's Hot Sauce Saturday event the perfect way to forget about V-Day. On Saturday, Feb. 13, all patrons will get a free bottle of the resto's signature hot sauce, just for stopping by. Spicy!
