Editorial Review for Okemo – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Okemo has shown what caring ownership and solid management can do. That, plus $88 million in 15 years. It's also a great place for families, because the lifts all funnel back to a central base area, and the pricing, slope-side lodging and amenities are family friendly.
The Slopes
The runs are fun and offer top-to-bottom thrills, even for novices. The lifts are modern and fast and few groom better or have more snowmaking than Okemo (95 percent coverage). Okemo's biggest problem may be its success. On weekends and holidays the slopes get mighty crowded. The recent expansion with a boost in snowmaking has helped ease the burden, however. Okemo has also captured the attention of snowboarders with its user-friendly attitude, facilities and instruction, plus its new super snowboard pipe and park with dedicated lift.

Okemo is perfect for all age groups and experience levels! The mountain is expanding yet provides an intimate experience. Okemo provides everything you could want and need on the mountain and off the mountain. Staying slopeside in an adorable condo across from the base lodge and numerous restaurants within a 3-4 mile radius in Ludlow, we prefer this mountain over its competitors in the northeast. Check out their torchlight parades during popular vacation weeks!!
Pros: reasonable, great service, Okemo Mt Lodging

Noone provides more reliable conditions than Okemo. There's only a few trails and glades that can be called truly challenging or difficult for expert skiiers, but everyone else would be happy with the variety of terrain that's available. And knowing how to avoid the crowds at the base is key. No other mountain in the Northeast has as much ski-on ski-off accommodations as Okemo.
Pros: Snow Quality, Accommodations, Real Village
Cons: Weekend crowds, Overgroomed, Pricey
