“:) And be sure to wear comfortable shoes!”
“read the descriptions on citysearch and was excited to check this place out, assuming it would be a swanky, artsy bar atop the Museum with interesting cocktails and interesting people.”
“Once you are tired of walking indoors in the galleries, you can go directly to Central Park and breathe fresh air on the lawn.”
“offering a diverse selection and great ambience with night music avallible, a great place for a date!”
“This is a great place to get away from the madness and lose yourself in the art.”
“I'm furious, and I love the museum, but I will have to cool down quite a bit before I go back again.”
“.. this is for people who really can't afford the full price.”
“If you don't have the money for the full price they will take less with not batting an eye (not valid for special exhibits).”
Seriously, what's not to like about one of the world's best art museums? And if you don't have time to explore every last bit of the place, it's still worth going -- pick one area or exhibit and focus on that... and save the rest for next time. (The sculptures are my favorite.)
A GREAT EXPERINCE.
i went there today and all i can say is wow
i love this place and recomend everyone should go there
Amazing Arts. I have been to Metropolitan Museum of Art thrice and I believe that this is only the place to find any type of art. I would recommend my friends to visit what! an amazing art here is. Best museum in New York!!!!!!
Best In the City. One of the best museums in the city. Had some of my favorite Warhol pieces on display. And always has wonderful limited engagement exhibits.
Museum. This museum is one of the best in the city. I have gone 4 times now and you lose yourself in knowledge and in the amazing art work. The funny part in all of this is I've always hated museums! This is a great place to get away from the madness and lose yourself in the art. I've spent hours here and not even realized it. I recommend this museum to anyone. Thanks for the getaway.
best art. This is by far my favorite art musuem on the east coast. If you live in NY or are just visiting this is a must see.
Hands down best museum in NYC. the MET is by far my favorite museum in NYC. You can wonder around there all day long endlessly entertained by the extrordinary amount of history surrounding you.
Amazing!. This is by far, the best museum in all of New York City. You cannot take a trip to the Big Apple and not make a stop at the Met. They have the coolest exhibits I have ever seen. Gotta go through the Ancient Egyptian exhibit first, they have a chunk of an actual pyramid in there and you can walk through it! Even can see some mummified bodies! Also, don't forget to check out the Armors and Weapons exhibit on the top floor, its jaw-dropping! Definitely check it out if you haven't. If you've been there, they always have new and temporary exhibits as well. So definitely worth coming back to.
Met Cashiers Defend themselves. I wish for once New Yorkers would own up to their actions. So you can pay a dollar or a penny to get in, that does not mean that you should come in and be smarmy to the cashiers and throw your money on the counter and snicker at us. It is extremely rude and degrading to the cashier who has probably done anywhere from 200-400 transactions before you and who just can't even stand to look at another dollar. I am sorry but it's not right how we get abused day after day. and your not helping New York if you pay $1 or a penny to get in, the Museum is in dire straights right now and it shows, if you come and there are several galleries closed well don't complain because that's what happens when you take advantage and pay a penny.
Amazing Art. You can find anytype of art here, from any culture or era...its an amazing meseum....the tour guides were extremely helpful and informative. Must visit if in NY!
An art lover's dream.
The building itself is worth seeing- look up at the ceiling of the lobby as you walk in and I bet you'll agree that it is magnificent. And then of course they have an incredible collection of all kinds of art-everything from Ancient Egyptian artifacts to Medieval musical instruments to French Impressionist landscapes. I can't think of any other museum I've been to that is quite so diverse. Obviously, if you really love art you will most likely love this place, but even if you're not that into art, it is worth checking out if you are in New York. It's one of those landmarks that everyone should see at least once.
As great a museum as it is, there are some pitfalls: it can be very hard to navigate through, and I've never found the staff to be very friendly. If you can deal with those things, though, you'll really enjoy your visit.
