The Historic Hudson Theatre

  • Wedding & Event Space NYC
  • Corporate Event Space in NYC

The historic Hudson Theatre is the only Broadway theater regularly available for weddings, meetings and social events. A recent restoration, which uncovered mint-condition Tiffany mosaic tiles, brings this 1903 landmark into its second century with new beauty and authenticity. Retrofitted to handle the most exacting technical requirements, the Hudson Theatre features Broadway quality lighting and sound. This versatile space also offers flexible and moveable seating, accommodating classroom for 200, banquet for 300 or theater style for 700.

Editorial Review for Hudson Theatre – by Citysearch Editors

The Venue
The Hudson is the second-oldest house on Broadway (the oldest is the Lyceum, one block north). It opened in 1903, complete with electric wiring and Tiffany stained-glass ceilings in the lobby. The first show was "Cousin Kate," starring Ethel Barrymore. Later, Barbara Stanwyck and Judith Anderson both made their debuts here.

The Experience
In the `30s and '40s, the theater was converted into a soundstage for the CBS Radio Playhouse, and in 1950, NBC turned it into a TV studio. The first nationwide broadcast of "The Tonight Show" starring Steve Allen came from the Hudson, as did the TV debut of Barbra Streisand on the "Jack Parr Show." After a series of structural alterations, the Hudson was granted landmark status in 1987. Today, it's part of the Millennium hotel and conference center complex and has become host to more seminars and industrial shows than theater.

Being in the same industry - you expect to be treated as you would treat your very own customer when planning an event like this. This experience happens to be my second client event I've planned at this same location! From the first call to inquire about availability and detailed menus for a cocktail reception, I never thought for a second that I was going to have to take my business elsewhere. This process was made easy for me. The Catering Sales Manager and her food and beverage staff are exceptional here... I had a vision of what I wanted, and they created it!. The food served at the reception was fabulous and the menus were full of many different selections, and the price is just right! I had a signature drink I wanted to serve - provided the bartender the recipe and boy - were they yummy! My clients had a great time! This is certainly a venue I would recommend for a cocktail reception! Great job & thanks again!
