Overview
The Classic Stage Company has occupied this off-Broadway theater for over 30 years, and continues to revitalize the classics for contemporary American audiences. The company produces plays based on classic works which are translated, adapted or interpreted within original contexts.
The Appeal
CSC has garnered attention in the last few years for its ability to pull in movie stars like Mira Sorvino, John Turturro and Uma Thurman for its productions. Less publicity-generating but no less worthy, CSC also runs a program sponsoring new works and runs a community outreach initiative for teenagers. How else to generate classics for tomorrow?
