The Vibe
Part of Pace's expanding universe, this gallery dedicated to photography opened in 1983. Pace/MacGill maintains an air of importance that matches its impressive inventory of great artists working in different genres--be they vintage, 20th-century American or the post-photo secession.
The Draw
Showing classics from Robert Frank to Kiki Smith, Pace has always been more concerned with consistency and originality than novelty for novelty's sake. In recent years, the gallery opened a satellite branch in Los Angeles, showing a similar roster to that of New York with the addition of Cindy Sherman and Diane Arbus. The gallery exhibits the famous (Georgia O'Keefe's collection of Stieglitz's work) alongside the up-and-coming. In short, if you haven't yet heard of Fazal Sheikh, Pace/MacGill will make sure that you do.
