Editorial Review for Nice Green Bo – by Janet Tzou
The Scene
You won't blink twice at the restaurant's spartan decor: As the packed crowds and critics' praises wallpapering the front wall agree, this longtime local favorite is truly one of the area's most exquisite finds.
The Food
New Green Bo's juicy pork or crab shau lon bau (soup dumplings) attracted much attention when they were first discovered by mainstream food critics several years ago. But other comfort foods are also superb: Scallion pancakes are delectably crispy yet chewy, and chow fun with shredded pork and preserved cabbage (it's not on the menu) offers a tangy rice-noodles retake on the usual lo mein. The pork with salty vegetables soup is simple yet savory, and seafood lovers must try the tender fried yellow fish, made aromatically briny with dried seaweed. Top off your meal with flaky, not-too-sweet red bean pastries.

I love Green Bo for its quick service, soup dumplings, low prices, large portions. This is a great place for people like me who need to eat and don't have a lot of money or patience.

This place has great dumplings and big portions. I eat here more than any other restaurant in manhattan because the dumplings are that good. The prices are very reasonable and service is fast. This is not the type of place you go with 5 or more friends. This is not the type of place where the server kisses your a s s. The place is really small and many times you will be seated at a table with other customers. I've only been here once that it wasn't busy lunch dinner or in between. As for the other reviews complaining about the cleanliness get over it. You wouldn't eat anything if u saw how it's really made. Besides this is new york city r a t s are everywhere and have you walked around chinatown before? not that clean but is one of the best parts of the city. I do admit the bathroom looks like something from a horror film. Overall I highly recommend eating here. Save room for the ice cream across the street. It's really good and fresh.
Pros: amazing dumplings
Cons: don't go to the bathroom
