You won't blink twice at the restaurant's spartan decor: As the packed crowds and critics' praises wallpapering the front wall agree, this longtime local favorite is truly one of the area's most exquisite finds. New Green Bo's juicy pork or crab shau lon bau (soup dumplings) attracted much attention when they were first discovered by mainstream food critics several years ago. But other comfort foods are also superb: Chow fun with shredded pork and preserved cabbage (it's not on the menu) offers a tangy rice-noodles retake on the usual lo mein. Top off your meal with flaky, not-too-sweet red bean pastries, or better still, just cross the street and go to the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory.

I live in Chinatown, so I've tried most of the food there. It's a mediocre restaurant for me. The rice cakes aren't that flavorful, and I'm not a big fan of their shaw lou bao. I've eaten many Shanghai restaurant, this one isn't that great or that bad. The place seems to be filled with tourists though, so they must really enjoy it. I prefer to eat at Joe's Shanghai.

The culture is interesting - Shared tables. You come in by yourself and they seat you with others. The food is very tasty. I liked the pork dumplings a lot. They also had some unusual soups and bean dishes. The fried fish I had was very tasty as well. The cold sesame noodles were also very nice. I always take my friends and relatives from out of town there whenever they are in the city.

Considering that I am Chinese, the food here for me was disgusting. There was a bad drift of air that smelled like bad tomatoes from the kitchen. The service wasn't horrible. The sweet and sour soup was too sour and tasted like it has been sitting for a while. Highly not recommended.
