“for more authentic Shanghai dishes (Drunk chicken, eel dishes, stir fried rice cakes, braised pork shoulder...)”
“this place is amazing for those dumplings alone but try the wine chicken and the scallion pancakes as well.”
“tastes like any other chinese food in chinatown to me!”
“Good scallion pancakes, good pork and scallion dumplings, good hot and sour soup, everything else on the menu is subpar chinese buffet quality tray warmed grease.”
“We really are praying that this was just a off night and not a new chef or new ownership, because we would miss our old favorite Chinese restaurant.”
“bad service, average cuisine, over rated”
“I'm not sure where the others with the lessor reviews ate, but this place serves delicious food at ridiculously low prices.”
“The best Chinese food I have had in a long time”
I Eat Here Every Week and I love it. I love Green Bo for its quick service, soup dumplings, low prices, large portions. This is a great place for people like me who need to eat and don't have a lot of money or patience.
Amazing Dumplings. This place has great dumplings and big portions. I eat here more than any other restaurant in manhattan because the dumplings are that good. The prices are very reasonable and service is fast. This is not the type of place you go with 5 or more friends. This is not the type of place where the server kisses your a s s. The place is really small and many times you will be seated at a table with other customers. I've only been here once that it wasn't busy lunch dinner or in between. As for the other reviews complaining about the cleanliness get over it. You wouldn't eat anything if u saw how it's really made. Besides this is new york city r a t s are everywhere and have you walked around chinatown before? not that clean but is one of the best parts of the city. I do admit the bathroom looks like something from a horror film. Overall I highly recommend eating here. Save room for the ice cream across the street. It's really good and fresh.
MAPO TOFU!. Hey, if you're a broke college student hoping to get some good cheap chinese, def go to Green Bo. I love their Mapo Tofu! And their sholompo (water beef dumplings). Yes it's crowded, so grab some friends, and make it even more crowded!
Wow, I guess this place is pretty famous. The portions here are pretty big, it's moderately priced for Chinese. Dumplings are great!
what happened?. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and food had been always good. Today I was there with my family and .......everything we tasted today was disappointment. What happened? Chef has changed? Food didn't taste fresh, rather stale. I feel like I wasted time and money. Such a disappointment.
Wonderful tiny buns...but beware.. I used to go to new Green Bo regularly (at least once a week) for their wonderful crab and pork tiny buns. Everything else on the menu is way above average as well. One afternoon, while waiting for my takeout order, one of the cooks came out from the kitchen handling frozen dumpling with his bare hands. To make things worse, his fingernails were about 2 inches long and chock full of crust. I haven't been back there since. I don't care how good the food is, i don't need food p0is0ning. YUCK!!!
Horrible customer service and the food is so so... Went there the other day with friends (5 of us) for lunch. We all wanted to try the dumpling with soup, so we decided to meet up in Green Bo. It's not that many ppl in there so we got seated right away, but feeling they are a bit rush. Anyway, we finally got the waitress attention, I ordered my dish and she walked away without taking my friends order, I mean c'mon is it really that of a rush?! Remind you that no one is waiting for table. The dish is okay, the scallon pancake were oily and the soup dumpling were not that impressive. Our dishes was throw on the table instead of put it ON the table slowly. We asked for more napkins, because my friend accidently spilled his tea. The waiter said "didn't I just gave you 3 Napkins?!" OMG this CHEAP place with nasty customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think at that point I had it with them. I will never go back and will not recomment anyone of my friends going there. I love how they throw our cookies on a dirty plate with the check! At the end she asked us if we want the cookies and we all don't want it so she bought it to another table with all the dirty sauce on it EW!
Fun Shanghainese. Sure its small, but its quaint and features some of the best neighborhood Shanghainese I've had in Chinatown. The soup dumplings are very good, not quite as big as some of the other places in the area, but still with a very smooth dumpling shell nonetheless. The noodle dishes have been consistently good and full of flavor and their scallion pancake is very crispy without too much grease. Service has been a bit rushed at times as a result of their immense popularity. The prices are worth the hassle of waiting and can feed an army of folks for just a few dollars.
Great Authentic Chinese, Cheap Prices. If you want value and great food come here. In the heart of Chinatown. It's usually packed so you may have to wait for a table but it's worth it. Soup dumplings are comparable to Joe Shanghai's. Prices are unbeatable. Standard Chinese Food. The owner is really nice and if you're a regular she'll remember you. Quick service.
No Delivery. I really enjoy the food but what chinese food restaurant does not deliver. Who do they think they are, not delivering. The restaurant is not in a convenient area so I never go there. Please DELIVER!!!!!!!
