The Scene – This trendy, open-air restaurant on the corner of Union Square is always packed with a diverse young crowd of friendly, unpretentious types. The line moves quickly, perhaps because there are no alcoholic drinks, which cuts lingering at the tables to a minimum. – – The Food – Stick with fresh vegetables. Top billing goes to the "harvest delight" salad, which is made up of eggplant, sweet peppers, string beans, carrots and cashews. Also excellent is eggplant in garlic sauce. Most dishes are marinated in light vinaigrettes or mild brown or curry…
Consistently great food!

We have been to 3 of the Zen Palate locations, and I definitely think it matters which one you visit. The union square location doesn't really seem worth visiting, but the one on the upper west side on broadway is awesome. The food is consistently good, and I have tried something new every time we have gone. I have been to the one on 46th only once, but that also was great. Each one has a slightly different menu. Try the sweet & sour sensation or the Tapestry embrace!
Great food and ambience

My boyfriend and I make it a point to stop by and eat here each time we visit or drive through the city. Great food and inexpensive prices even on the dinner menu make this place a clear winner in addition to being a great place for star-spottings.

zen palate's only selling point is its convenient and trendy location on union square. my boyfriend and i could not find any connection between the descriptions of the items we ordered and what arrived at our table, let alone how these mystery dishes were supposed to be 'good'. if i want greasy food, i'll go to one of the millions of chinese places in the city whose grease actually makes it taste good.
- Pros: location, chi-chi-ness
- Cons: gross food, horrible service, obnoxious patrons
