Home to the first staging of the groundbreaking musical "Oklahoma.". Known as the Erlanger when it opened in 1927, the name was changed when owner Abe Erlanger suffered losses in the Great Depression. The St. James has housed a number of significant musicals like "The King and I" and "Hello, Dolly." Boris Karloff played here. So did Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier.
