This East Village institution has the well-meaning but standoffish charm reminiscent of an aging hipster. The muted silver walls in the back room look to be covered in a decade or so of dust, but the mirrors behind the front bar reflect well enough for preening. As one of the first in the area to welcome a gay crowd, the club enjoys a nice mix of persuasions.
The Draw
On the weekends, it's 30-something punk types dressed in oodles of black and sporting ample eyeliner who frequent this too-cool saloon. House and trance--and plenty of '80s on Friday nights--play on the back room's earsplitting sound system, while a multitude of colored lights pulse with the beat. True to its divey status, the bar serves beers like Rolling Rock and screwdrivers in tiny plastic cups, but it's the Red Bull that really seems to get people going.

$3-$8 for a thurs, fri or sat night!!.. the most respectful door gentleman in clubland, whos velvet rope is used only to keep the sidewalk clear...youre in, you pay, you dance your a** off til 4am, and if booze is your thing - $10 will get you SEVERAL beers or a few hard drinks! and the bartenders are FRIENDLY! most "mega" clubs could learn alot from the pyramid about how to please their customers. the pyramid has regulars - people who are addicted to good service and a good time...just like me - the ICON of the pyramid club! i dance shirtless, glazed in baby oil, on stage all night long (and girls, this is a good thing)! and i danced for 9 yrs at a "mega club" before finding my real home at the pyramid. no fights, no attitude, no worries about anything but which bathroom to use (there are 4)!! oh, music...the best of the 80s, from pop madonna and michael to the darker sounds of alternative/goth rock depeche mode and the cure. and down on the lower level, industrial techno where all the "children of the night" decend to for some serious stomping. got a song request? the djs have a request book that they DO follow!!! i can only criticize the location: ave A between 6/7th - and i can criticize it only because i live in NEW JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would not travel 4 hrs each night - 3 nights per week if the pyramid club was not everything that ive just claimed it to be! as i enter my 3rd year there im only trying to draw to it the attention of everyone who seeks - desperately - the kind of nyc nightclub experience that once was in a lot of places, but now - for me - lives imortally at the pyramid club!!!! oh, and did i mention a "gentleman" at the door?!

Guaranteed fun and excitement whenever you go to this club.One of the best places to experience the real NYC nightlife. If you love 80's music, this is a place you MUST go to. This is a legacy night club that has been here ever since the start of disco. This place has been through it all, and has succesfully survived it all. Do not go this club if you crave a pretentious and trendy atmosphere. This is a place that caters to everyone (from hippies to yuppies and occasional celebrities). One of the few clubs in this city that actually deserves the label of being a club. The drinks are moderately priced and the cover is cheap ($5-$10). There is house and techno downstairs and 80's, new wave, etc on the ground level. Bottom line, this is one of my favorite clubs in the city and I definitely recommend this place.

I try to stop in on Thursday's 80's New Wave night whenever I can. They have great drink prices ($2 and $3 beers and $4 mixed drinks). The last time I was in there I found out that they are starting to kick off local rock, metal and hardcore bands on Wednesday night. Hey it's only $10 cover at the door for a night of hot local bands. You can't beat that. Plus they sometimes book touring bands.
