Editorial Review for The New 42nd Street Theatre – by Jen Mitas
During the Giuliani-era of corporate takeover and sky rocketing rents in the Times Square area, Theater Row lost many of its dear off-Broadway theaters. This showcase theater (opened in 1999) is a welcome relic, with its 99-seat black box performance space, rehearsal studios and music rooms just a block and a half from Disney's prime Broadway real estate. Along with producing new musicals and, "anything else that interests them," the space houses the West Side Dance Project and City Music Schools--which offer affordable dance and music lessons for adults and children.
