“great place”
“The staff were really helpful and we'd definitely go back.”

“The drink portions were BIG”
“Generally a crowd pleaser and great last-minute spot when it's 3 am and you just have to get that last bar in!”
A fun, relaxing place for all. Let your inner star shine with Monday Night Karaoke or jam out on Sundays with 80's Music Request Night. Tuesdays thru Thursdays offer just as much excitement at Solas. This loungey tri-level bar offers great specialty drinks including margaritas and martinis with hip music, all served up by a cool and inviting staff. If you want to catch the last inning of the game, no worry the bar has a huge flat screen. After work with a group, grab a couch and a cocktail at Solas. Solas- the only spot to cocktail in the East Village. …
Must go Fridays and Saturdays!. I've found this place to be a friendly environment, good service and awesome staff. Especially the nice and handsome bouncer (Julio) at the front, he is so dreamy, I love going just to see him and have pleasant conversations with him. Me and friends are in competiton with him, we make plans every week just to see who can get his number, I dont understand why they have that ugly big nose bouncer (Fouad) working with this fine handsome dominican, I would go any day just to see this one handsome and intriguing bouncer, and I would recommend it to the girls but you will be in competition!
Rude staff kills the buzz.
I was with a group of 12 friends last night and they wanted to go to a fun bar. I said, "let's go to Solas," having had a good time there before.
Well, we turned out to be half of their customers on a Friday night and despite our increasing their business, they were continually rude to us. We wanted to go into the bar, and the doormen kept wanting us to go into the dancing room. It was a totally awkward moment with bouncers shuffling us around at the door. I mean, honestly, let us walk in and buy your alcohol!
Then, later that night, my friend and I went over to the bar. It had a couple empty glasses sitting out on it so my friend stacks the glasses and moves them to an area that's easier for the bartender to reach. Now, I would consider this a nice thing to do so that the bartender, who was lazily sitting on the counter behind the bar, didn't have to walk around the bar and clear the glasses. But instead, as we lean on the bar, watching our friends dance, the manager walks over and says to him "Don't touch the glasses. Don't break them." My friend points the glasses and says, "They aren't broken. I was just moving them." The manager again says, "Just don't touch them." My friend says, "Ok man, sorry." Then the manager says to both of us, "In fact, don't stand here. Stand somewhere else." I jump in, having done nothing, and say "Whoa, what's the problem. He apologized and obviously wasn't trying to do anything wrong. Why can't we stand here?" The manager just says, "just go stand someplace else. You're blocking the view." WHAT VIEW? Of the bar?
Dear Manager,
- Don't take a nothing situation and turn it into something. Management is not supposed to escalate problems, not to mention CREATE them!
- I brought a party of 12 people to your bar that had NO business that night. Guess what, in the future, I won't bring them. Keep acting like a moron and people will continue to not return to your bar.

Best Birthday Party. My friend and I had our 30th bday party there. We had a blast. They were so accomodating! Melvin and Julio (the bouncers) were great. They were so friendly. I would recommended this place to anyone that wants to have a party/ They reserved a room for us with no charge. I had a blast! Thank you Solas!
Great party venue!. I had a wonderful experience at Solas this past weekend; I threw a surprise party in the Red Room at Solas, and everyone had a great time. From the very beginning of my planning processes right up until we all went home, everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. The Red Room is also a great location - cozy and comfortable, and it's right next to the bar! I want to extend my heartiest thanks to everyone at Solas who helped to make my party special, and I highly recommend Solas to anyone thinking of throwing a party in NYC!
Classy lounge perfect for Bday parties. I had my birthday party at Solas last month and I was completely satisfied with their service. Nobody had a problem at the door, the bartenders were friendly and were very generous with the alcohol. The private room on the side where I had my party was very classy, clean, intimate, yet with enough room for dancing. I highly recommend this place.
Pubby yet loungey--not an identity crisis, but a bar with two sides, both nice..
The Scene
It could be said that coming back to this place (many folks are repeat customers) is like slipping into a favorite pair of sexy jeans--comfortable, familiar, yet still a little exciting. The main floor combines an embracing Irish-pub feel with lanterns and sculptured-metal hanging lamps that glow a soothing orange. Happy hour is rousing, but Friday and Saturday nights groove with a DJ and shameless flirtation.
The Draw
Upstairs, a lounge vibe sets in--it's a slightly evocative red room snug with couches, mirrors and candles, and another adjoining area spotted with armchairs. With a fine-looking clientele, Irish bartenders who remember names and faces even if it's been months, and a warm atmosphere with potential to heat up, Solas is hip without trying to be the hippest.
Ladies, this is guy central. Literally about 10% girls and guys everywhere else - my friends and I had a great time, spacious, decent music, cheap drinks, cute guys. Definitely worth a try.
satisfying for anyone. I went to Solas last weekend to celebrate my birthday with a full range of friends (richer/poorer, uptight/laid back, girls/guys). It seemed like each of them had a good time, as at least one of Solas' four or so rooms had something to offer each person. The drinks were good and moderately priced and the service was fairly quick. The bar was full of people but not overly crowded. As a single guy, i definitely appreciated the plentiful girls (although the ratio isn't like the type of place that lets in only one guy for every 4 girls). I'll definitely go again.
Great Staff. I had my birthday party here this past weekend. It was so crowded that a line was created outside of this small bar, because they literally couldn't fit any more people inside. Despite the crowd, however, the drinks are reasonably priced and Kevin, the manager, is really nice and accomidating. The bartenders are also really nice. I recommend this place to hang out.. just not for a large party (unless you rent the place out!).
WORST PLACE EVER. WE BOOKED A PARTY FOR A SATURDAY NIGHT HERE. WE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE WEEK TO CONFIRM AND MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF OUR FRIENDS WOULD BE ABLE TO GET IN AND NOT HAVE A PROBLEM AT THE DOOR - WE WERE ASSURED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEMS. WHEN WE ARRIVED, THERE WERE 2 OTHER PARTIES BOOKED. OUR FRIENDS COULD NOT GET IN BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE DOOR MEN HAVE MISTAKEN THIS LOWER EAST SIDE BAR FOR MARQUEE - YELLING AT PEOPLE THAT THEY WOULD NEVER GET IN - AND THE MANAGER AND OWNER WERE RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. THEY BLATANTLY LIED TO US OVER THE PHONE. THEY ALSO DO NOT BELIEVE IN AIR CONDITIONING.THE SERVICE AND TREATMENT WERE APPALING, AND I WOULD NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.
