In Short
Nestled in the basement of the elegant Japanese Takashimaya department store is a tiny, relatively undiscovered jewel of a cafe. The silvery beige decor reflects the refined air of the store as a whole. The mini-lunches and afternoon teas combine Eastern and Western ingredients in intricate ways--for example, cucumber on pressed rice sandwiches--and presentation is exquisite. There are over 40 varieties of tea to choose from.

A small, wonderful oasis Right on 5th ave. Cafe in the Japanese department store, Takashimaya. I can relax and enjoy Japanese food. Tea is also nice. Very cozy place.

I've been here a few times now - twice for the buffet and once for the regular sushi. Let me first state the fact that the buffet is GROSS. The offerings are good, yeah, but I've had one too many pieces of rank-tasting sushi there to ever go back. Regular sushi is a bit better, but there are much better options in the area

Calm and serenity are the feelings you get when you enter the store. It feels a little private walking down the steps to the basement and going to the restuarant that is very well spaced to feed alot but not feel crowded. No noise, no loud talking, good food, and an extremely relaxing lunch. I like this place because the food is fresh and work seems like a world away.
