Great variety in scotch. If you like your scotch and like to sip it in a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere, this is the place for you. They also have the largest selection of single malts I've ever seen in a "regular" bar, they even have some 30 years. They have a long list on the chalkboard of all the scotch and port too but I don't know a thing about port. The chalkboard is very useful because with that kind of variety it could take more than a few minutes to decide, this way you can take your time and make a decision before you approach the bartender. What's even more useful in making this important decision is that they list the prices too (unless they are in the process of re-pricing the item) . This is where I go if I want to have a scotch and especially if I want to try something new.

A grime-free Upper West Side bar for neighbor residents and Columbia students.. The Scene
A curved aquarium with multi-colored dwellers-of-the-deep greets incoming patrons at this pub that is decidedly less divey than its name suggests. There's no dusty film on the wooden tables and no grimy bartenders serving up your pint. Mirrors line the painted red walls of this narrow tavern, making the place appear larger than the space it actually occupies. And the bar is less than roomy--if you can't get a table, you'll have to go elsewhere, as standing around is not an option.

The Draw
The crowd comes to knock back a few, betting on billiards at the single pool table toward the back. Bar eats include hamburgers, BLTs and tasty 8-ounce pizza burgers. Multiple televisions show an array of sports, but only those seated at the bar are watching--the rest are off bonding with friends.

Best bar in the Upper West. I've been hanging around the Dive Bar for a long time now, it's a great place to relax with some friends and drink some really well priced beers. No pretentious a**-hole kids hangin around, just good people, neighborhood regulars and good lookin girls. The beer selection is one of the best I've seen in the neighborhood and the food is much better than the average bar food. Not only is the regular bar stuff great, like the burgers and the wings (the burgers really are awesome. I usually dont like big burgers but these are incredible,) but there's some real unique stuff as far as casual bar restaurants go (stuff like this crazy corn crab chowder and fresh salmon salads, and fried pickles and pulled pork.) and I havent been anywhere else where you can get a $3 Brooklyn lager or Anchor Steam at happy hour. Great prices all around actually.

The Dive is just a great plus that I go to when I dont want to deal with the bad, snobby attitutudes that are prevelant at a lot of the bars in the area. Nice staff too, very welcoming, very layed back and friendly. And they show International Soccer (football) too, which is always big plus.

past it's prime. now it's lame. their heyday was over six or seven years ago. Used to be great during their golden age(1990's), but that whole bartending staff is gone. Just another dive now

The place to have fun... I had an amazing time here. This place looks like a college bar, but do not be fooled because they will ID you since they have a lot of underage Columbia students trying to get in. There's a pool in the back, tvs and good music. Well Jukebox but still fun. The bouncer was the best, kept coming over giving my and my girlfriend free shots. Of course that led to getting tipsy :) We ordered some appetizers, nothing to brag about but good, although I almost chocked on my nachos. People were really friendly, I just didn't want to leave this place.

Too bad. Used to be fun place. Employees have developed ATTITUDE!! AVOID!!!. Formerly, a nice cheap neighborhood bar with no attitude. Now, employees act like they are doing you a favor when ordering. Downright surly. Me and friends made to feel like we were interefering with bartenders social lives by reordering.

Cheap and good service. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg at this decidedly not-so-divey bar, and the waitresses are nice and helpful. I was part of a soccer league that has a deal with the bar, and we were allowed to stand around while waiting for a table, enjoying free beer from bartender. The wings were great, the chips not so much. Given the price, though, it was good value. Just don't order the chips.
