Editorial Review for Brooklyn Bridge – by Julia Lyon
The Background
Engineered and constructed by John A. Roebling from 1867 to 1869, this suspension bridge has inspired artists from Georgia O'Keefe to Joseph Stella with its beauty. Stroll or bike along this engineering triumph, which spans the East River, and you'll understand the geometric beauty of New York as never before: Angles mirror angles into infinity. And for an escape from geometry, check out the tugboats steaming by below.
Features
A pedestrian walkway and a well-trafficked bike lane make this bridge exceptionally people-friendly at almost any time of day. You might even spot a commuter at the beginning or end of the workday. And if you're a photographer, this is where to capture that picture-perfect postcard setting.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasIf you're into water views and can stomach some traffic, consider a saunter along the East River Park esplanade, where the scenery changes at top speed as cars on the FDR zoom by.

Although the skies opened up on me and soaked me from head to toe, the 30 minute stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge was incredibly exciting. An excellent view of Manhattan.
Pros: Good exercise, Great view
