Cannon's may feel more like the drinking grounds of your college years than any other bar you'll encounter in Manhattan. Here's the Saturday-night scene: Girls in tight-fitting, midriff-skimming tank tops (in the middle of November) sidle past boys in baseball caps who are double-fisting two pitchers of beer. A Dave Matthews Band single comes on the jukebox. Repeat.

The service was by old white guys who seemd to have an "ownership" air about them. Not a real atmosphere, as if it couldn't decide what it wanted to be...either a sports bar, a pub, or a dive bar. So the feeling was that I never settled in or relaxed because I didn't really know what kind of place I was in. The bathrooms were gross and they didn't have food, so I have never stayed for very long.

Only go here if you are a Barnard girl wishing to be sucked up into the fat orbits of the less-than-talented football players (who still retain some cockiness for whatever reason.) This is a greasy, dirty, sweaty dive for the dumb and drunk. Seems to be the last stop on the hook-up train, populated by the less-than-lucky looking to scoop some trashy girl out of a sticky bar booth. Seriously, avoid this hell hole.
