In Short – Located near the Central Park Zoo, it's one of the most famous rinks in New York City. Admission to Wollman buys you a whole day of gliding, and there are inline rentals, lessons and hockey clinics for the enthusiast. Ice-skating lasts until early April and then it turns into an amusement park.
Nice rink to skate in
by gerryjim
I skated here a year and a half ago at Thanksgiving. I loved the rink but had difficulty with their rented skates. The first two pair had very dull blades which makes it too difficult to skate. The third pair finally was OK.
Bring your own skates.
- Pros: Nice location
- Cons: Skate blades are not sharp
don't forget the lockers
by zippypoi
Bring your own lock for the lockers. If not, there's a small fee to rent theirs. This sure beats having your shoes taken or lost somewhere.
- Pros: mix of music, have food/ drinks, no time limit
- Cons: crowded on weekends, long line wait, Hard shoes
Great rink with caveats
by nightwatchman
It's a great rink- huge and very picturesque- especially at night, with the sky line of NYC visible through the trees all around the rink. And it's a great value.
However, it's super crowded on weekends. Best times to go: weekdays at night when it's super cold. Also, sometimes, the teenage skating guards are more interested in the girls than on keeping order.
- Pros: romantic, large rink, good value
- Cons: crowded at times, reckless teenagers, long lines at times
