We went on one of Liberty Helicopter Sightseeing flights on Sunday morning. Awesome, just awesome!!!! On time, very organized, very professional. The tour itself was amazing.
They take you over to the Statue of Liberty and then turn so the passengers on the right can also see and photograph it. They then fly up the Hudson while the pilot gives you various info on the buildings etc Then you fly over the Yankee Stadium. After that you turn around and come back down so again the passengers on the right can see and photograph everything.
We booked a 20 minute flight but it did seem longer. It is hard to see how anyone can have a bad experience here!!! When we got back into building, we were asked if we enjoyed it by what looked liked the company owner. (I’m certain he was) He seemed really genuine and he looked like he wanted everyone to have a good time, which I'm certain everyone did!!!!
I’m big on photography and I was a little worried that the photo’s wouldn't be very good through the window, but all of my photo’s turned out awesome. up until the flight the best part of the holiday was the view at sunset at the top of the rock, but this flight beats it hands down. We would give this ten stars if we could!!!
Do it, you won’t regret it!!!!!!!
2 1/2 HOUR WAIT - – I can't imagine what would have happened if i DIDN'T make a reservation! I didn't come to NY to spend my time sitting inside a tour terminal!
Try it at least once – The Good: Once we got up in the helicopter the pilot was great, the ride was smooth and the view was fantastic. Most of the staff were really nice, the one guy even gives you a high five when you go through security.
The Bad: expect to wait. We booked a time a day in advance, arrived right on time, but still waited over an hour before we got in.
Share a sky-high view or charter the whirligig yourself. – Up and Away

Blue Skies for Blue Thunder
Each chopper seats up to six passengers plus the pilot; individual tickets run around $100. If you don't want to share, you can rent the helicopter for $1260 per half hour. For chartered flights, prices vary, but jaunts to Atlantic City, the most popular destination, cost $1900 with a $150/hour waiting fee.
Liberty Soars Above All – Their prices actually start at $56.00 per person. City Search's web site needs to be updated. However, WHAT A TOUR!!! I was captivated by all the views. We flew over Yankee Stadium, Central Park, The Statue of Liberty and so much more. Great for the kids, adults, EVERYONE!
Pro Flyers – This was by far the ride of my life. My family and I enjoyed this tour so much that we're determined to do it again in Nov when we return. They have high security for anyone that is aprehensive about flying.
