“Staten Island is a nice place to go to see the Skyline!”
“And on the return trip the view of lower Manhattan is just the best.”
“You pile on, get on the side for the best viewing of the Statue of Liberty, you "sail" away, floating across the historic Upper Bay of New York Harbor, and the gulls fly along, and then there's Lady Liberty, and the tall, tall buildings of lower Manhattan”
“it was a nice suprise to see such a famous attraction at a price I could afford.”
“It's a nice, slow ride -- a nice time to chill out after a rugged day in the city.”
Love to write. Very nice of view of New York from this ferry. I have seen my city with a different view. Nice Ferry
Ferry Ferry where ya goin'. This is the best ferry in the world. I love the ride this and check out the city. Everything is so beautiful and everyone is so friendly. Yeah!
BEAUTIFUL VIEW. If you want a magnificent view of New York City, this is the way to go - just don't go during rush hour. When you exit the ferry go to Bay Street and make a right. There's a fantastic Cultural Center which houses the ONLY Chinese Garden in N. America. It's is most definitely worth the walk or a short bus trip. You will pass the Major League ball field and if you walk in their park along the shore you'll get another great view of the city. Also, the most beatuiful time to see New York City from the ferry or the shore of Staten Island is in the evening. You would get a view of Manhattan you'll never forget. You can stand outside on the deck of the ferry on a warm evening. You couldn't ask for more for free.
On my must-do list for visitors. I lived in New Jersey for several years, close to Manhattan. Whenever I had out-of-town guests, we'd spend a lot of time in the city. The Staten Island Ferry was one of the things I'd always do with them. It's free. You get great views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. That part of Manhattan is very different from other tourist areas. It's free. The panoramas of the Financial District are fantastic. And did I mention that it's free?
Commuters and tourists share spectacular views of the southern tip of Manhattan for free.. The Staten Island Ferry, once 50 cents, is now free. (It's perhaps the only New York attraction ever to go down in price.) In the summer, the 25-minute ride is a welcome escape from the city. Day or night, the ferry cruises between the shorelines of Brooklyn and New Jersey before docking at Staten Island's St. George Terminal. The voyage provides spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Must see. The staten island ferry offers such a wonderful view of the Statue of Liberty, and lower manhatten. This ferry offers a great opportunity to take lots of pictures and take in the sights that represent American history and pride! Visitiors to NY: do not leave the city, until you take a ride on this FREE ferry! It is truly the highlight of a trip to NY
I love the ferry!. The kids and I lve to ride the ferry!! Back in the day when I was newly single and sleeping on my sister's couch, I would take the kids for a ride on the ferry just for something to do. We would people watch, enjoy the sights and get out my sisters hair for a while. In a world where very little is free, this is one of the best ways to commute to NYC.
Nice trip. The best "free" view you can get of the Statue of Liberty. Stay on board for the ride back.
Miss it the most!. Lived in SI and commuted for years via the SI Ferry. Have moved away and miss that ride the most. There is nothing prettier than a ride on the ferry as the sun sets as background behind The Statue of Liberty not to mention the spectacular view of Manhattan. If you are into taking photos this is one of the best places to do it!
The locals were the friendliest. it was a nice suprise to see such a famous attraction at a price I could afford. Everyone told us before we left Colorado not to look at anyone or dont talk to anyone. I met two of the nicest people while taking the ferry. We laughed all the way to the island. Then tourists got back on and no one wanted to even chat. NYers are awesome and their city is second to none. Take the ferry and see miss liberty on the ferry and save some $$$$.
