Please don't read all the bad reviews esp. if your animal is already there- IT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE...My little guy (only 2.5) was sent home by a local vet with a possible slipped disk, SHE GAVE HIM MEDS AND TOLD ME TO BRING HIM BACK IN 3 DAYS.. well my little boy had a temp of 105! On recomedation i rushed him to the AMC... Yes while the INTERN was semi-rude and young...and had what seemed to be very poor bed side manner. After my baby was admitted, a "real" DR took over, took an emergency bld sample, his white cells were very low...not good with the fever. The little man seemed to have a very bad infection. The Dr spend 15min on the phone with me explaining every little detail. Called me again and again b/c I was on the sub and she kept getting my voicemail. I went to vist this OUTSTANDING critical care DR then spend another 20 min in a room with me explaining everything they were doing- Long story short my baby boy is home and getting better- i chalk the interns rudeness to being busy and maybe not haveing an animal at home who is poart of the family... the DR's are outstanding, caring, and gave him a bath upon request. You pet is in good hands!!!!!

Pros: The real Dr's

Cons: Interns.... the $$$$$

Where do I begin. Although I have had some good outcomes with the many pets I have brought to the AMC, I generally concur with the terrible attitude and demand for payment that seems to be pre-eminent in the philosophy of the hospital. Once I brought in my dog who was lethargic and unable to walk properly. Only 1 year old, I knew something was wrong. I arrived in early June at about midnight , identified the problem and then explained to the intern who admitted that this was his first night in the ER since graduating from veterinary school. I told him I was a physician for 25 years and in my estimation, the dog was quite ill and needed to have some lab work done and a work-up. I was told that there was nothing wrong and that my dog was probably "tired." After reluctantly paying their fee, I took my dog to a private vet who began a workup demosntraring that the dog had severe liver problems and eventually we were back at AMC where a great surgeon Laura Ludwig performed shunt surgery on thed.og and saved its life. There have been other cases of misdiagnoses leading to the death of a 10 year old cat. Right now the only vet I will see is Dr. Macina in derm who is a wonderful doctor and human being. Consumer beware, many vets throughout the city are just not that smart and all are very mercenary with a few exceptions
