The Goods
Look beyond the racks and racks of plaid flannel shirts and you'll see what makes Daffy's a longtime favorite of downtown fashionistas: a reliable selection of clothes by edgy, up-and-coming designers such as Anna Sui, Parallel, Cynthia Rowley, Equipment and Margie Tsai.
The Deals
Prices here are simply fabulous. Most items are up to 80 percent below retail, but if you look carefully, you can do even better than that: A black floor-length evening gown by Valentino, for instance, was marked down to $198 from $1,000. There's a great children's section, too.

For the fashionable man on a budget there is nothing that remotely approaches Daffy's. Sure, Century 21 has a slightly better selection, but a price tag there will say, originally $200, our price $100, whereas Daffy's tag will read, originally $200, our price $28. Century 21 has a few close-out items that might be near that price, but nothing exceptional, but I've got some utterly amazing items at Daffy's ranging from simple linen shirts for $15 to crazy siny velour shirts that make me look like a deranged medieval poet. While I admit that there's a hit and miss chance of finding something interesting and at Filene's Basement, for overall price and selection nothing comes close to Daffy's.
Pros: amazingly cheap, cool designer stuff, large selection
