Escuelita is Basulita(which is mean "lil'trash" in spanish). It supposed to be my comeback for the 3rd time because ive been there twice last year,it was wavy then until it went down to the hill.the bouncer was being a clown and he try to fool me over because,i asked him i left the state ID home but,its ok i can show them my another photo ID w/my name, birthdate and picture and he said yes then when i got in,that russian host was being so rude and he got some nerve to tell me to hurry up for looking for my photo ID while he was rushing me during i was looking for my ID in my pocketbook and i said to him "why wont you be patient and learn to have some courtesty, gosh",then some light skin blk or latino heavyset guy the cashier/host,whatever he was and idc but he was very discourtous told me"if u ever speak to one of my co-workers like that,i will ban you for good" and idk what was his problem, maybe he havent get banged by a male or a female, who know and who cares, lmao!,i told this fat butt-hole "why wont you tell him have some courtesty and patience, like seriously" then i found my another photo ID instead of state ID,he told me i cant come in because the rule of this place you have to bring the state ID,no college ID,no passport and none of that then,i got so tight then,i stomped-out of this place because why wasting my $5(two $2.50 carfares) to come over here and come home, dont make no sense at all, smh.this place is uber-ghetto as heck, the bathroom is small and nasty, they even let the men to go to the ladies' restroom while any female patron were there and let the females to go to the men's restroom while any male patron were there and you would be so paranoid like god forbid, that person might do something harm to you like raping you, killing you and etc. and its bananas(this is my message goes to the future patrons:female, male, gay.straight, whatever),the drink is alright but its kind of expensive, the females in here are cute but some of them can be birds(yes im a bisexual female, lml!),the music is on point and DJ is so down to earth, you can ask him for your request what song you want him to play for you and he will do it in the heartbeat, lml, the drag show is a mind-blowing and they are bad to the bones and the go-go dancers are hot but they off the beat.the management need to upgrade by hiring some office workers in case somebody have questions or plan their occassions, check all of the emails, facebook private messages and etc.,like seriously, one day, this club will going died-out because of the bad management and the owner need to get off the high horses and do something, smh.
Avoid This Dump.
Major problems with this club:
They charged my heterosexual, caucasian female friend $20, while they charged us $2 only. At this point I already didn't want to go in because I hate that b.s. Also, the rude "Jabba Da Hut" at the register, took his time (ten minutes or so) by pretending he was organizing his drawer before acknowledging us -- or I should say "grunting" at us. In the meantime, the bouncer, who was friendlier I guess because he was Puerto Rican like my partner, was explaining to him the logistics of why my female friend was being charged $20. Apparently, Thursday nights are just "male nights." Wrong explanation to human rights activists from D.C.
The website AD said it was "Latin night" with salsa and etc... When we got in, it was all ghetto and dance hall music that I'm over with, because I've been to these bars in D.C. and was looking for the latino experience that New York offered.
We ordered our drinks and they came in a tiny glass equivalent to the cups in an eyewash station. At this point I told my partner and friend -- I'm sure New York has something better to offer on a Thursday than this dumpster. (Well, that was the "G" version of my comment but I was a little more passionate than that). We obviously weren't welcome at the club because we weren't gay, black males -- so we headed to SPLASH were we had the best time! It was okay to be white, Asian, female, Puerto Rican, etc... and it was free!!
Severly Disappointed.
I just wanted to say i am very disappointed in how my inquiry about doing my 25th birthday party at escuelita was handled and hope that the management reads this and fixes the problem in the future:
1. I called the club on several ocassions to nothing but a full voice mail box. There never seemed to be anyone there to check the messages or answer the phone
2. I email the manager, only to get replies the the inbox was full
3. I sent a message to the promotional myspace page 3 times and was told the the information was passed to the manager and i still never got a response.
4. If they could not hold my event there they could have had the courtesy to just let me know so i could have made other plans.
I have planned parties for both nightclub and restaurant and i would never shun business with out a good reason. So if there is one i would love to hear it!
Nowhere near the best...certainly not the worst.
On the good side:
1) Large selection (Lots of hotties)
2) Close to Penn Station/Times Square
3) Good music (Not much techno...but then the crowd isn't a "techno crowd")
4) Convenient to other places.
On The bad side:
1) Expensive drinks
2) Very dingy bordering on filthy
3) Too many regulars (And not the GOOD ones)
4) Too small
5) Drag show isn't much of a show.
6) Friday's are pretty much ONLY for the ladies
7) Poor security that's also rude....and kind of stupid.
If you are looking for a late night stray piece of a8s..then you might like this place.
If not.......look elsewhere.
La Escuelita.
Is an amazzing place if you like Blk and Lationo guys, well by latinos I mean the hotties, Puertoricans and Dominicans, and if you are in to hip hop and any trendy music. If you are in to the other kind of latinos go to Atalantis, Luchos and so on in Jackson Heights, so you are gonna listen horrible latino and gay music and most of the patrons are ugly as hell, lol. Now remember, a lot of atractive young guys with a thug look (not always attitude) looking for the same, yung. So please understand if you are not in to the new trends you are gonna get BORED.
an ok place to dance. La Nueva Escuelita has some really good hip-hop music, but I the same people are always there.
this club sucks. this is the worst club I have ever been to in my life. The music's bad the dance floor is too small, the bathroom is filthy &the place is cheap all together
Go TO FREEDOM FRIDAYS. I just went to this club for first time this past friday and I wasnt dissapointed . The music was good because they played a good mix of Raggae, Hip-Hop, Bachata, Merengue and even Salsa which a lot of other clubs won't play so I loved it. I didn't buy a drink because I pregamed , but water was $5 . Cover was only $3 and definetely worth it because I had a great time. Other than good music , the vibe there was extremely friendly, it was mostly women , femme's, Butches, AG's and the likes but there was no competitive vibes like other gay clubs everyone here was friendly and about having a good time. They also had a stripper and shows at 2:30 , I will definetely be going back !!!!
New York City was once the center of the universe for degenerate club action. This club lives the spirit..
The Scene
First you have to find the place. It's in that nether zone of warehouses and non-gentrified dwellings in the West 30s. Line-waiting time is one hour from 10pm to 12am, about a half-hour thereafter. Forget palm-grease; not even the Puffy posse could charm los dragones de la gate.
The Draw
Imagine a Mississippi River paddle boat's "Evening of Tango Madness" revue as recreated by acid-casualty drag queens with access to the sequin-and-feather wing at Eaves-Brooks; all that buttresses the monstrous ego of the rabid undersized chihuahua that is headliner Angel Sheridan. Like Chi-Chi's Mexican theme chain restaurant, Esquelita leans heavily on salsa kitsch to draw the crowds. Also like Chi-Chi's, Latino authentico is often the flava least evident.
Ahh.... Music was horrible the 3 times I went... the crowd was not all that hot either... it was cool but not "wild"... Would not do again unless they get some real techno and real music rolling in there...
