From The Owner of 2a

A shabby but inviting East Village bar features windowed walls with a mediocre view on two stories.

What Our Expert Scouts Say

2a

2A is one of the few places in the East Village that has kept its original vibe. Cheap drinks, dive-y setting, popcorn machine and cool patrons make this two story bar the place to be at any given night.

warriors. why are you reading this.......get your a** down to 2a on wed or friday for some great tunes and good people. the bartender, knows the deal and there's no waiting 20 minutes for a drink. it will be in front of you before you even decide what you want to drink.

home away from home.. if youre in search of a venue to call your home on wed and fri nights, i strongly suggest this bar. my reasoning? one word: GEORGE. this man dominates on wednesdays and fridays....and you can only find him at the upstairs bar at 2A. the bar is low-key, no attitude, GREAT music and favulous drinks (compliments of George's impeccable taste in both areas). the shots (key lime, choco pie, kamikazes, etc etc) are a delight that warrant making this bar a mandatory stop, but its the perfectly mixed dirty martinis that keep me coming back again and again for more. that and the fact that youre bound to run into many an interesting character if you hang out long enough...

Lots of character. If you haven't been to 2a on a Wednesday or Friday, you absolutely must go check it out. The music is fab, the scene is fun, and George, well enough said.

Ms. Sarah. You'll never experience 2A until you go UPSTAIRS on Wednesdays and Fridays! George is a true mixologist -- trust me, you'll go home happy as a clam (just watch out for those stairs on your way down).

2A- A place you'll want to stay.... 2A is the best bar in NYC! Okay... so maybe that's an overstatement, but the upstairs area really kicks on Wednesday and Friday nights when George rips it up behind the bar. His chocolate cake and key lime pie shots can't be beat and his music and video selections are top notch as well, Dark Crystal set to Human League, doesn't get much better than that. The crowd in this place can be iffy at best so keep your eyes focused behind the bar and away from the pleated/tapered dockers that tend to riddle the floor. OH and best of all, you can be sure to find plenty of Georgie's Girls to hang with or stare at!

Lower east side dive (in a good way). The place is a good little neighborhood bar that turns into a bit of a hot spot late nights on the weekend. Not too much bar space, but plenty of couch space, if that's your scene. Two floors, two bars ensure reasonably fast service. The staff is friendly enough. Definitely stop in if you're just looking for a beer during the week--there's a happy hour, but it's not so popular.

Decent with great couches. This is a decent venue, with 2 floors, decent drinks and great couches upstairs! It gets quite crowded at around midnight and the crowd is mixed - some hipsters early on and mostly international Yuppie types later on. All in all, not a bad place, but not overly fantastic either.

Where regulars drink.... I may be bias but I drink here with my wife a few times a week for the spectacular happy hour. We are very comfortable there with the bartenders and the other regulars. To be honest I hope this place never becomes popular...(why an I writing this?) Oh! I love 2A! The view is great!

bring your own drinks. 2a has a lovely happy hour and nice couches and big windows but EVERY time I go there the service is abominable. The reason the bartender's there is to give you a drink, right? Not at 2a. I guess they're just paid to putter about behind the bar and ignore people who want drinks.

Outside of happy hour the beer's kind of expensive, and the mixed drinks have no booze in them. Dang. I wish I liked going to this bar, but I just don't.

doing something right. This place is always packed--the music is booming in the upstairs bar (check out the comfy couches), and downstairs has more of a neighborhood pub feel.
