The name of this Soho favorite refers to an arcane bookie slang term for interest charged on a bet, recalling a time when the neighborhood was full of wiseguys that might stop in for a Scotch. But inside, the Vig Bar blends with the Soho of today; long, low banquets, leather tuffets and votive candles set the mood. On weeknights, the music starts out bluesy, catering to a refined and sophisticated after-work crowd. On the weekends, the scene tends more toward a full-fledged party, but the Jager shots and martinis seem to get along just fine.
Hits: It's a late-night place, so if you're in need of a cocktail at, say, 3am on a Wednesday, you're in luck.
Misses: There's a dark velvet-swagged back room, but even on crowded weekend nights it's not always open, leaving the front bar area slammed.

Pretty crowded, standard fare for frat-college type bar trying to be cool My main beef is the bartender who basically stole money from . Gave $40, told me I only paid $30 for $26 tab without pause after I saw her stare at the money. Be careful - the bartender I'm talking about has a tatoo on her lower back on the right side. $10 isn't much I know, but it's really the principle.

THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE ARE FRIGGIN HONEST!!! Four of us girls from Canada stumbled into this little bar with a bunch of guys on a Friday night and this place was packed with nice people and great music. Not only that, I somehow managed to lose my wallet and the Manager Billy was kind enough to return it to me! We checked out a few clubs and bars in NYC and I had the best experience at The Vig Bar - hands down! Here's a bar that's made of friendly and honest people, great music, no cover, cheap drinks and crazy fun! If you're in the SoHo area, you NEED to check this place out. NEED!

My cousin had a get together at this bar / lounge. Its small but great for afterwork gatherings. DJ played some cool mellow, mooded tunes. Can get crowded after awhile and people were waiting outside to get in.
