Editorial Review for The Vig Bar – by Angela Voulangas
The Scene
The name, arcane bookie slang for interest charged on a bet, nods to a time when the neighborhood was full of wiseguys who might stop in for a scotch, neat. Today's Vig uses long, low banquets, leather tuffets and votive candles to set the mood. Weeknights, when the music starts out bluesy, find a refined after-work drinking crowd. Solid DJs throw together an eclectic mix every night of the week after about 9:30pm.
The Draw
A favorite of birthday revelers and office partiers, the Vig takes reservations for individual tables or the entire dark velvet-swagged back room. It's a late-night place, so if you're in need of a martini at, say, 3am on a Wednesday, you're in luck. Expect a different crowd of weekend good-timers, though the charming bartender assures that the knucklehead factor stays low. But by the wee hours, the Jagermeister shots and the martinis all get along anyway.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoWhile there's no bar food, the Vig keeps lots of menus on hand; you're welcome to order in from local eateries. Lombardi's pizza is a favorite.

THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE ARE FRIGGIN HONEST!!! Four of us girls from Canada stumbled into this little bar with a bunch of guys on a Friday night and this place was packed with nice people and great music. Not only that, I somehow managed to lose my wallet and the Manager Billy was kind enough to return it to me! We checked out a few clubs and bars in NYC and I had the best experience at The Vig Bar - hands down! Here's a bar that's made of friendly and honest people, great music, no cover, cheap drinks and crazy fun! If you're in the SoHo area, you NEED to check this place out. NEED!
Pros: People, music, great crowd.
Cons: Can't think of one.

My cousin had a get together at this bar / lounge. Its small but great for afterwork gatherings. DJ played some cool mellow, mooded tunes. Can get crowded after awhile and people were waiting outside to get in.
Pros: Cozy chillout lounge
Cons: Small and crowded
