“Definitely a nice place to relax with all the tunes than span a broad spectrum chine softly in the background.”
“The staff were very friendly and devoid of attitude, and the place just had a cool and chilled vibe to it.”
“The food was real good but kind of expensive.”
Excellent Bar/Lounge. I think this is one of the best bars in nyc. I attended a Gothams film award after party there on Monday. Music was excellent, drinks were reasonably priced, atmosphere was a chill art deco. Best of all smoking was permitted INSIDE!!!!!!!!!! One of the only legal bars to allow it.
Horrible music and awful service. Hope, the owner is reading this. It is really unfortunate to see this great place's decay! I have been going to Circa Tabac every Saturday night for a few months by now. In my opinion you would achieve a dramatic improvement by just removing the afro-american who is alternating Saturday nights with the Brazilian guy. The afro-american may have problems with controlled substances. If you do decide to keep him, please, make sure he knows that Circa is not a dance club for the bridge and tunnel crowd, but a smoking lounge. Music choices should be adjusted accordingly. Music at this place is horrible!
Haven for Smokers.
One of the things I liked about this bar was the complete lack of pretentiousness. Even though I'm a cigar smoker, I liked that it felt like a normal bar that allowed smoking, rather than an upscale cigar bar. The staff were very friendly and devoid of attitude, and the place just had a cool and chilled vibe to it.
The cigar menu is decent but not extensive, although you can bring your own cigars for a $5 charge. They have cigarettes that I didn't know existed, and some rather sweet cocktails amongst other things. Prices are pretty much what you'd expect.
Coming from a state with a draconian smoking ban, it was wonderfully liberating to kick back, light up a fat stogie and puff away. I'll definitely be paying another visit the next time I'm in NYC.
Best smoking lounge.
This is a very good place to go if you like to smoke. I love it.... This is a good bar where you feel convinent from the first second.
Best regards, Joerg form Germany
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.. Simply the best bar/lounge in NYC, without doubt. Of course the big draw is that smoking of cigars and cigarettes is permitted, but also, the atmosphere, the music, and it's Soho location all contribute to the overall great vibe of this bar. It recalls the good ol days of NYC smoky bars. A place where you could linger for hours with great drinks and good stogies. I suggest buying a cigar at Circa Tabac since those cigar sales keep this bar a smoking establishment. A pretty decent selection of cigars in the $15-$25 range and a great menu of exotic and after-dinner drinks. I'll be back here 1000 times more.
Great smoking hideout!. We LOVE Circa Tabac. Great drinks, cozy cozy cozy place to hang out, and of course, smoke. I went there for my birthday recently. We didn't let them know ahead of time, and when 20 of my friends descended on this place, we were treated with nothing but smiles and amazing service by the staff. They lit the candles and brought out the cake (played 50 Cent's "In Da Club" while they were bringing it out, that was a hilarious touch), cut it up and put it on plates in the back and served it. The owner bought me a shot (or two?) and the server made sure I always had water so i didn't turn into a sloppy birthday girl. They really went waaaaay overboard to make sure we had a good time. SuPERB!
A lounge with a Cuban supper-club feel, where smoke still reigns supreme.. Back when you could light up anywhere, this bar had a more limited appeal. While some adored collapsing into squishy velvet chairs on wheels and poring over the tall glass display case of nifty smoking accessories, others found it less appealing. Now this cigarette lounge cozies up to its customers with a nod to two bygone eras: The jazzy indulgence of the 1920s and the days when NYC smokers ran free. Small, pricey appetizers show effort, but they're just part of the menu. Desserts and coffees alongside roughly 10 types of cigars and more than 100 kinds of cigarettes lay the landscape for a long and swanky night. It's easy to get back into the old drinking-and-smoking swing, with hip-hop and jazz keeping it interesting. Choose from nearly a dozen champagne cocktails, flavored martinis and late-night aperitifs.
LOVE THIS PLACE! :). The music is great (someone's i-pod is hooked up to speakers and plays everything from Jay-Z to Paul Simon ... genius!), Bernard is an awesome bartender, the bar is comfortable to eat at, the food is great, plenty of comfortable seating, now that it's summer all the windows are wide open so it's very airy. LOVE this place! :) It's very casual and it's OPEN LATE! :)
Chill atmosphere. What a relaxing, chill bar. Went there to have a few cigars with some friends this past saturday nite. We brought our own, and what they don't tell you is that they charge you a $5 fee for every cigar you bring yourself, which is fine with me, because the cigars they sell there are around $20. Drinks are stiff and moderately priced. The music was just right, with a cool mix of everything from Eartha Kitt to Nirvana, and not too loud at all. I didn't walk out smelling like smoke even though almost everyone in there was smoking. We got there at around 11, and it was pretty empty, and the hour or so that we were there it never filled up. A great bar, but a bad location.
Fresh and Smoky. I do not smoke, but I despise the overall smoking ban in NY. Circa Tabac made me smile as soon I stepped foot there last night. The place is well set-up and seems to attract a diverse group of people. The bar staff is friendly and the drinks are well-made and reasonably priced. They must have some sort of an amazing air cleaning system, because almost everyone here was smoking, yet the air remained fresh. My clothes did not smell of stale smoke when I left.
