Editorial Review for Showman's – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Overflow crowds from the Lenox have infiltrated this genteel jazz club to the point that they've printed a menu and begun to take reservations. Of all the Harlem tourist spots, however, Showman's remains furthest removed spiritually from its suddenly hipper-than-thou location midway between the universities; as the St. Nicholas Avenue area continues to gentrify, this legendary haunt, even as it peeks aboveground, will never sacrifice its underground chic.

Conveniently located near the subway stop on 125th Street. Showmans is a legdendary Harlem jazz club that deserves its excellent reputation. No cover. Reasonably priced drinks. Friendly staff and customers who make you feel right at home. Excellent jazz, and the players will gladly sit and chat between sets. If you love jazz, if you want to experience a true Harlem jazz club that stays true to its tradition going back to 1942, go to Showmans.
Pros: Great Music, Great Atmosphere, Friendly Staff
