not a bad night spot. price is decent. pretty standard i'd say. the people are okay to socialize with. The bar tender was HOTT!! and thats all i really need to go by again! ;)
Dark and sexy--a tried-and-true New York formula.
The Scene
Elegant, understated, and supremely dark, this W Hotel bar's focal point is the gold-tinged backlit bar shelf stocked high with colorful liquor bottles. The rest of the decor--leather seating, mirrors, candles, black-and-white photographs of happy people--fades into the background so as not to take away from the real attraction--the crowd. Cute foreign twentysomething males and middle-aged businessmen flirt with friendly waitresses and scope out the pretty women.
The Draw
Bottles are big here and run the gamut from tequila to champagne. The creative cocktail list changes monthly, but perennial favorites include the apple tart martini--a tasty blend of apple rum, triple sec and cranberry juice, garnished with fresh fruit--and the wet pear martini, an intense combo of gin and pear juice. The music varies from classic rock to clubby beats, but the real soundtrack is the banter of strangers becoming intoxicatingly intimate.
odious atmosphere, sleazy clientele.
This is basically just a grab a cheap tart bar for high earning New York divorcees and adulterers. Greeted by a disinterested coat check girl, served by a thoroughly disinterested bargirl our only other interaction with the staff was a bouncer opening the door as we left. Having sampled my fair share of similar bars in England I can only say that I have never experienced an atmosphere as contemptible and sleazy in my life.
Hard to pick out the stand out points of the night, from the frankly hilarious bar prices to the entertaining circus of grey haired grandads conspicuously overspending on the twentysomething girls giving the atmosphere of a Bangkok bordello.
The true highlight of the night however had to be the point at which drunken man stood up to push my wife out of the way so as to enable the women he was with to get a better look at a man she proclaimed to 'fancy'. as a result of this little disagreement I was able to persuade the miscreant, with a little help from my right fist, that remaining in his seat would be a far more comfortable and painless way of spending his evening.
Suffice to say I would only recommend this nasty little hole to those men that don't have the freedom within their relationship to pay for genuine pro's or to females looking to pay off a loan or overdraft in exchange for intercourse with a man at least 30 years their senior.
Strongest Margaritas.
Love WHISKY BLUE, The cocktails are awesome. At WB I love to dress with class, check me out and see for yourself. The service is adequate,(meaning someone doesn't bother you ever 5 minutes asking if you want something else). Bartenders know their stuff, WHISKY BLUE rocks with class.
If you are hungry, you don't have to leave, just talk to your waitress, she will fix you up. It's full of beauiful people who dress to shock. So don't be shy, try WHISKY BLUE if you dare.
The Good: Not a Sausage Bar. The Bad: WAY too expensive. Well, at least chicks DO go there, but the drinks are overpriced ($10 for a glass of wine" c'mon already!). Also, it is the "scene," but hey---once in a while one wants to be part of the scene!
great place. Great after work place, found the staff friendly and service was great. all in all can't complain, would definitely go there again!
Stay away!. Warm drinks, servers and beleive it or not, busboys with attitude. Please, do yourself a favor and stay very far away from this place!! Note to waitresses, take an order when you see people seated at a table. Trust me, that is what servers do.. They ask their customers if they can get something for them. Take your $15 per drink money anyplace else. This place is lousy!
Truly enjoyable!. I've been to the Blue a few times since this January, and I truly enjoy every visit. The drink is a bit pricy, but for cocktails, it is not that much more expensive than other bars. The drinks are well made, and the staff are pretty fast serving them up. The thing I enjoy the most is the crowd, mostly white-collar professionals from around mid-town, most of them are well educated and very polite.
A good place to relax after work. This is a place for single women!!!! You will see so many men!!! The atmosphere is great.
