The Scene
Launched with a birthday bash for Jennifer Lopez, Halo has so far attracted a steady stream of bold-type names including Ben Affleck, Stephen Baldwin, Queen Latifah, Derek Jeter and Marc Anthony. So what's the attraction of this mid-sized basement boite? Not the dark decor, which retains some decidedly unhip elements of its former life as the Oaks restaurant. The new sofas are stylish and comfortable enough, but are reserved for bottle-service only on busy nights.

The Draw
The doormen posted underneath the unmarked awning seem to model their personalities on a Terminator robot; so prepare to hustle a little if you want to get in. Once inside, however, the chatty staff pleasantly seem not to discriminate between celebrities and civilians.

For all the posters that rate HALO a "1", I have this to say..."Stop your wining." Let's call a spade a spade here. Halo is for people who are comfortable in their own skin and do not seek out environments where they set themselves up for failure. While detractors call it another "trendy, velvet rope wannabe cool club," they completely miss the point. These are the same winers that wrote editorials in college lamenting the social ills that fraternity and sorotity life bring to a campus. My point is, don't ruin the fun for everyone just becasue you forgot how to. Of note, I enjoy going to a local bar just as much as fgoing to a club. It's about diversity of options. Halo is a great place/

Halo is a glorified basement with a rude staff. Simply put, do not go here. It's tiny, uncomfortable, and the staff makes it seem that they are doing you a favor by serving you.
