This neighborhood bar meets all the qualifications for a perfect, relaxed date: dim candle lighting, a selection of top-quality beers and wines at relatively wallet-friendly prices, and a laid-back vibe. DARKLY LIT WITH TEA LIGHT CANDLES, CHALK BOARD WITH BEER/WINE PRICES. SMALL BUT PERFECT. MET ZACH BRAFF THERE DURING 2007 TRIBECCA FILM FESTIVAL. RETURN EVERY TIME I AM IN NEW YORK.

A Romantic Bar with Substance

I stumbled upon Anotheroom quite recently because I was early for a dinner reservation at Montrachet next door (highly recommended). This is a bar I recommend for dates or catching up with friends. Its a great date place because they have a nice wine list for the ladies and an impressive beer list (for beer lovers) for the guys, which are all reasonably priced also there are a few of really good restaurants in that area. Also its great date atmosphere because it is dimly-lit with candles. Even the bathroom was really romantic with its candles a nice place for a discreet hook-up (the idea did pop up between my boyfriend and I). Anotheroom is also great for catching up with friends because its not too loud and not too quiet laid-back atmosphere.

In summer months, get there early enough to snag a seat at the sidewalk tables.
Know Before You Go:
Anotheroom is cash-only, and the bar does not serve hard liquor. If something more stiff is in order, head to Tribeca Tavern next door.
