Editorial Review for Jeffrey NY – by Liz Zack
The Scene
The haute-couture pioneer of the Meatpacking District, Jeffrey is an Atlanta institution that migrated north. Owner Jeffrey Kalinsky has his own retail pedigree: A former shoe buyer for Barneys, he parlayed his eagle eye into his own business. Jeffrey patrons are the kind who keep cars waiting while they shop and know the names of the aggressive (but pleasantly un-snotty) salespeople. And you can, too, if you're free to drop mad cash on a truly divine Missoni dress.
The Goods
Although well-stocked with a wide range of labels, from Helmut Lang to Pucci, the store's real draw is the full lines of fancy footwear for men and women. Racks of Gucci, Manolo Blahnik and Prada, among others, prove that Jeffrey is (still) all about the shoes.

At the store, when I bought things, they were very sweet, but when I returned the items back, they were so rude, they didn't even look at me or talk to me... And they took forever to find out whether it was returnable or not... I mean... I think people who carry those amazing items should have amazing service even for return. Even little boutiques are not as bad for return any more... i don't think I would recommend this place just in case you might have problems with your products, and might need to return... Even though they took it back, I felt horrible after the horrible treat...

I just bought a pair of Prada jeans at Jeffrey. When I ask them to shorten the legs, I was promised that the end will look the same as original (you may know this tailoring technique). All my other jeans are altered and tailors usually do a great job to attach the original hem to the shortened leg. Although promised otherwise, they shortened them the cheap way. That may happen at a Jeans store in Chinatown but not at a place like Jeffrey and not with a pair of Prada's.
