“See Dana the bartender to recommend her fav wines and sit back and enjoy each fantastic bite!”
“Incredible food and friendly staff.”
“The quality of the food is fantastic but we found the menu a little restricting.”
“This is our second favorite Mario restaurant (behind Otto).”
“love this place but lately i do not what is going on with the SERVICE ,my wife and i decide to not ever come back cause the service bad, bad ,bad.”
“The service was terrific and the food spectacular.”
“would not waste your money at "LUPA"-the food might be good but the service is horrific!”
“Food presented well and the service once we were seated was great but we had a long wait for our table (about half an hour) even though I had pre-booked.”
One of Mario Batali's first, and still one of his best, restaurants. Lupa is Super Mario's take on Roman food and never became a mob scene the way Babbo did. Which is lucky because it's as good in its way. Lupa just never stopped being a great neighborhood restaurant, to it's great credit.
The food is so fresh and tasty. I truly recommend everyone try it out at least once.
Love their food, excellent service and I feel very welcome here, will surely stop by again soon
Awesome food, cooked to order,. Awesome food, cooked to order, pleasant waiters
terrible service decent food= subpar dining. i was waiting for what seemed like an hour and change for my steak, which wouldnt have been so awful if i wasnt met with extremely rude gestures from my waitress when i inquired about the delay. when the steak arrived, the seasoning was decent , but it was overcooked. the experiecne wasnt terrible, but with so many options in this big city why settle for less?
Batali's comments and insensitive and hurtful. I can't believe Batali is comparing bankers to Hitler and Stalin. Agree with the previous post that it is completely insensitive. Why can't he just stick to making food? I can only assume that if he is busy attending conferences and media events offering his political views he is definitely not paying attention to his businesses and the quality of his food. Given this, and the insensitivity he recently displayed in comparing bankers to Hitler, I will no longer eat at his restaurants and will encourage others to do the same.
Best food in town. This place is Awesome! food was cooked to order, waiters make me feel at home and the drinks were slammin!
Boycott Mario Batali Restaurants.
Mario Batali's recent comment comparing bankers to Hitler and Stalin are downright disgusting and irresponsible (reference at bottom of review). While there are many views on bankers during these challenging times, his references to such dictators who executed many people for their religion and / or beliefs is hurtful and ignorant. I do not believe it is in this world's best interest to support him or his restaurants given his most recent comments.

Worst Service. DO NOT GO HERE! The horrible service would make Mario B embarrassed! The hostess should be fired. We went in earlier and told her we would like a table in an hour. She said no problem. When we returned she said it would be about an hour and half to 2 hour wait. She did not even apologize..she kept acting so unprofessional. There a tons of restaurants in NYC with better food and service so don't waste your time!
Did they change Chiefs. When I booked the reservation, I requested seating in the front of the restaurant. However, they seated us in the back room. The meat platter appetizer and beets were great, but the calamari was a lot of grains and very little calamari, but it was ok. They need to bring back the wine Stewart because the waitress selections we very poor and she did not listen to what we were requesting. The food / wine pairing was unsatisfactory this visit. We went there for the Braciola and it was poor at best. It was burnt on the bottom, cold, tuff and they did not stuff it like the last time we were there. All the sauce and stuffing was on the top, not inside it and it was bitter. We are from CA. and we make it a point to visit Lupa?s every time we are in NYC, but this will be our last time there. Mario B. where are you? You need to monitor this restaurant!! If you?re thinking about going to this restaurant, think twice.
