A Great Neighborhood Restaurant. Village Restaurant is a great restaurant. It's like going to your favorite uncle's house who perpetually knows and cooks your favorite food, but with the focus of a chef. Village is a neighborhood haunt. It's great for singles, couples and groups of friends. There is a bar menu for those who are regulars and have their favorites and then there is the menu that is lovingly created by the owner, Steve, who is a remarkable chef and has an amazing talent and a deep love of french nuances (He's a James Beard chef!). Sit at the bar a few times and you'll see, from the friendly and discrete barkeeps why people come back.

The other reason people return is the food: The bar menu includes: omelettes, hamburgers (perfection), salmon/tuna burgers (perfection), salads (perfect dressing) and the fries. The fries are amazing. I cannot say anything more. The main menu is also quite stunning in its choices and simplicity. Steve's ability to capture the essence of the meat, fish, vegetables, soups and pastas speaks of a real talent. Don't let the "Village", relaxed feel fool you. There's very good eating at this restaurant. Check it out. Go and try something different ever visit. It's worth it.

Wonderful Experience. My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for the first time last night. As soon as I walked into the restaurant I felt like I was a long lost friend -- extremely comfortable. While I was waiting the bartender gave me an overview of the building's history which was fascinating.

I felt so at ease from the start which continued throughout the dinner with the help of our server's polished and courteous service. The chef (and owner) created a meal that I am still thinking about -- our meals were done to perfection. I wish I was returning to the restaurant tonight for another lovely experience.

I will definitely be a returning customer and plan on spreading 'the word' about this wonderful restaurant and the people that involved in creating a dining experience that is memorable.

Excellent.... Excellent food and priced just right. I love the ambiance and love the outdoor place. I would recommend this place for a first date type of restaurant. Did I mention it was affordable? 5 stars!

Terrific Dinner Party!. Went to Village on Friday night with a party of 7. Food was delicious. I got the chicken and it was tasty and moist and pretty much just terrific. One of my friends had the duck which was also very good. The pre-fix menu is an easy choice for under 30 bucks. And to add a little gravy, the house wine is from a fabulous region in Italy and i couldn't even believe it was so inexpensive. Or that it was their house wine!! All in all great intimate dinner.,

Nice jazz brunch. I went for the prix-fixe brunch yesterday (Sunday). I was pleasantly surprised that there was a jazz duo (guitar and bass) playing. The selection is not extensive, but it's a pretty good deal, as it includes a cocktail, coffee or tea, soup or salad, a backet of muffins, and your entree. The main room is filled with sunlight and the space is very pretty. Service was attentive, although a little confused, and didn't rush us. I'd go back if I felt like having a nice, relaxed brunch.

Very, very nice. My wife and I convinced Grandpa to watch our baby so we could have a date night. I decided to try a place we haven't been and picked Village Restaurant. I'm very glad I did! I had made reservations--good idea if you're dining there on a Saturday night--and we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The restaurant was filled, and the crowd was lively. This led to my only "complaint", it was a bit noisy. Our service was fantastic, and the roasted chicken was perfect. The meat was moist, the skin crisp, and the seasonings balanced. We opted for the prix fixe dinner and believe we got a great bargain. We will definitely go back. I really want to try a Sunday brunch now.

Groove Back. I've been a devotee of this place for some time. They lost their groove, and are back on track. It's the same faces, but it seems as if all have a new attitude. I was never going to go back after all the changes, but the last two times have been so fresh they obviously cleaned house, and got rid of the mediocre.

Solid Food. Nothing spectacular but always good food, always solid service, and always a pleasant experience. I suggest keeping it simple when ordering, but I have really never had anything bad. Love their 1/2 off wine over 60 on Mondays - good way to taste some nice Chateauneuf.

AMAZING BRUNCH. Three of us went for a hungover, birthday brunch. We'd been talking about going here for some time, and decided to check it out. In fact, we tried to go last week, but they were closed for a private party. They gave us complimentary drink cards, which we unfortuantely forgot to bring.

It could not have been better.

I was craving oysters and got what I consider some of the best I've ever had (Flower Pine Island, if I recall correctly).

The service was good and the food was amazing. Eggs benedict was fantastic. A perfect brunch, topped off with some amazing, well spiced and delicious bloody marys.

The 6 drinks made up a good amount of the tab of $120 (incl. 20% tip). But, for the across the board amazing experience, it was worth every penny. WE"LL BE BACK!!!
