Tips for Rosa Mexicano

Nice Decor, food is nothing to talk about. This is far from being "the best mexican restaurant in the city" like other reviewers mention. The drinks are made from the very simple Margarita Mix that you can buy from the supermarket. The guacamole made in front of your table tasted good, but that's about all that tasted decent out of the four dinner choices each of us ordered.

Tortilla Soup that I ordered tasted worse than the soup i had in the All-Inclusive Resort in Cancun.

The decor is nice, but don't waste your time and money on this restaurant....go to a low-key places in downtown, or better yet, try "Santa Fe Grill" in Park Slope - the best Margaritas and the best Mexican food.

Great experience, great food. I was in New York with my three kids this past weekend and decided to try Rosa Mexicana on a relative's recommendation. The place is beautifully decorated and I expected to be told to take my rugrats elsewhere. Instead everyone was extremely friendly. The food was great, my kids have never been so enthused about about food that did not come with a toy. The service was prompt and attentive but we were not rushed at all. Our waiter was great, very friendly and good with the kids. After we left he ran all the way down the street after us to return my daughter;s camera which she had forgotten. I definitely plan to go back and would recommend it to any one visiting New York.

Beautiful restaurant with great food. I was underwhelmed by the East Side Rosa Mexicano, but the Lincoln Center location is a different restaurant altogether. The decor is chic and beautiful, and the food is delicious. We had an early reservation in order to make the opera and were seated promptly. Service was good but not great -- the waiter forgot to give me a steak knife for my lamb and then disappeared for several minutes, so I sat watching everyone else eat until I could flag down another server.

What Happened?. Rosa Mexicano has gone downhill recently. This was my favorite restaurant in the city. Are they spreading themselves too thin with their expanding locations? I've been to all of the NY locations several times. I went to the Lincoln Center location last night. I ordered the filet mignon in the mushroom cream sauce. It was the THINNEST steak I've ever had. It wasn't even a quarter of an inch thick. It was swimming in sauce. It was like having a plate of cream of mushroom soup w/ beef. I've had this in the past, and it was 5 times the thickness. My favorite item on the menu is gone (although it's still listed on their site) chili rubbed lamb shank in parchment paper. I was in the restroom, and women were raving about the lamb - not sure why it was taken off the menu. The service was fine, but not the usual incredible service. I will try the original location one more time, but if the food quality isn't there (I can't believe I'm saying this) I will never go back to a Rosa Mexicano again.

Best Mexican Food in the City!. Rosa Mexicano is the best! The guacomole is super and the whole menu is delicious. I've been there a dozen times now and the staff is always great and the food is always superb. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't know real Mexican food.

Best Guacamole ever!. What a great experience. We had an awesome corner table by big windows over looking Lincoln Center. The Margaritas, Guacamole, and Food were awesome! Highly Recommended if you are in NYC and looking for special Mexican food and setting.

WORSE THAN TACO BELL!. All I heard was great things about Rosa from my co-workers. "Best Mexican in the City". And since my favorite food is mexican, I decided to give this place a shot. We order the Guac.... which was great with amazing sauces, than the nightmare began. My best friend and I ordered the steak with shrimp and my girlfriend ordered the chicken tacos. When the waiter brought us the food, I initially thought it was an appetizer because the portion was so small. Never the less, I assume they were trying to be fancy with the smaller portions so I did not mind..... until I tried the food. The shrimp were small, fishy and butterflied to make them look bigger. The steak was over-done and tasted like dog food. They brought one bowl of rice and beans for 3 PEOPLE!!!!!!! VERY CHEAP. My girlfriends chicken tacos were so bad she couldnt even finished half of one. Honestly, Chipolte, Taco Bell and Chili's are 1000 times better than this joke of Manhattan establishment. I cant believe New Yorkers would give this place a good write-up. This was my first and last time at Rosa, do not waste your time and money. If you want crappy food, atleast pay cheap prices at a street cart but do not get ripped off like I did at Rosa.

great atmosphere & probable the best service. We had a great time there. The servie was great, they did not hurry us at all unlike some of the reviews that were written earlier. We did go later in the evening but we were there for more than 2 hours & the staff was very patient & we got a great seat near the window.the gaucamole was amazing but the best entree was the duck.We will definitely go there again.
