“Great decor, slow service!”
Love love love this place, best spa and fitness pl I've even went to, Clean, neat and tidy, feels very welcome and service is great
Fantastic service but pricing was...could be better but was quality that counted, of course. The decor was great too!
Great decor, slow service!.
I went after work with a couple of picky co-workers. We all agreed that the decor is fantastic and comfy. However, the service is incredibely slow. We had to ask for drinks multiple times and got charge for each time we asked - not acceptable when each drink is $15! The staff is gracious though - one of my co-workers was upset about the music and gave the manager an ear-full. He was gracious and accomodated her ungraciously delivered request by changing the music. The food was good and priced fairly for the area and what you got.
I think this place would be great for a romantic, please-leave-me-alone while I spend a lof of money, date because it's very dark and cozy and the staff definitely leaves you alone. If you want more attention, definitely go somewhere else.
Even the French gent a cushion over says, "c'est magnifique.".
The Scene
The landmark Villard House, built in 1882, was languishing as a storage space before the New York Palace Hotel decided to throw $3 million into a revamp. Now the two-story bar, designed by Pierre Court, is dripping with decadence, not to mention the tassels and fringes that hang from voluptuous period chairs. Styles lifted from the rec rooms of Napoleon and Queen Victoria add a gilded layer to Villard's original vaulted ceilings, Tiffany windows and ornate woodwork.
The Draw
Sophisticated lighting and ambient techno piped through four themed rooms smooth out the over-the-top atmosphere, which attracts multi-generational big spenders. Roving from caviar to Bellinis to upper-echelon scotches, the 10-page bar menu offers plenty to splurge on, including mango cosmos and a delectably fragrant pineapple and sage martini.
Count Dracula's Lair. I stumble upon this place and went in with my friends for the first time, and we were amazed at the level of design and decor of this place. Marble table with snacks on the table, and strong contrast of black and red through out the bar. The bathroom is located on the sub-level under bar, which is very spacious and palace like. The stair to the bathroom is very movie-like, made you feel like walking in the hallway of some mansion. The cocktail was a bit pricy and wasn't mixed that good, but the staff was friendly and the place is perfect to impress ur date.
