The Scene
Lafco made its name introducing America to quality personal care lines from Italy, Greece and Portugal, most of which fell into the so-pretty-it's-a-shame-to-use-it category. All of these favorites adorn the store, including Claus Porto soaps and the Sapone Per Cucina Collection. Lafco also boasts the exclusive U.S. retail rights to the beautiful Lorenzo Villoresi Bath and Perfumery Collection--a favorite of Sting, Madonna and Brad--and the nearly 800-year-old Santa Maria Novella line, made in an Italian monastery by Dominican fathers and originally developed for the likes of Caterina de Medici.
The Goods
Not into soap? What about soap dishes? In additon to stylish beauty accessories, Lafco stocks the largest U.S. selection of goods by Italy's Arte de Couio/Triangolo, a favorite of decorators; these range from leather wastebaskets in pretty colors to modern-looking ottomans.
