Great Selection Great Prices – I was looking for a stackable set of rings when I stepped into Roslyn's. She helped me herself and I bought a set of beautiful rings in yellow, rose and white gold. They treated me great, and were very helpful, letting me try on quite a few sets before I made my selection. She even had my own rings cleaned while I was browsing, for free! I left feeling super happy with my purchase and I'm definitely going back!
Absolutely Amazing Antique Rings – I stop by the store all the time, even if it's not to buy but just to admire their wide range of beautiful jewelry. My husband and I have matching wedding rings from this store, but I wish he'd also bought my engagement ring from here because their selection of vintage rings are GORGEOUS. And Roslyn has a good eye for matching you with great jewelry, and she and her salesladies are willing to go above and beyond to make sure you're happy with your purchase. I definitely recommend this enchanting little shop to anyone who wants great jewelry at great prices.
The Best Hats – I stopped in with my sister, and we ended up spending the next half hour trying on the wonderful and crazy hats at this store! They have a very large selection of hats, (with even more in the basement) from more modern style fedoras and caps, to wacky but wonderful flower studded wool slope hats. My sister bought this great folded brim hat with a feather flower on the side and I bought a kind of flapper style hat with fur and beautiful hand beading and stitching. The staff was super nice and they helped us try on a bunch of hats and find the ones that fit us. And Roslyn (who the store is named after) took a few dollars off each hat, just because she saw how much we loved them! Truly a fun experience with artistic, imaginative people. We're definitely going back.
Absolutely Gorgeous Jewelry – This chic boutique is where I happily spent an over an hour while waiting for a friend. The jewelry was beautiful, especially their wide selection of rose-gold (my favorite). I ended up buying two stackable rings with stones, and they salesperson patiently allowed me to try a few before I made my choices. Roslyn herself was in and about, but not too busy to stop and personally make sure I was happy with what I bought. She's truly one of a kind, a great lady and I'm definitely going back with my husband for Valentine's Day.

Roslyn, thank you for taking time out of your vacation to speak to me a couple of times and for staying involved throughout the entire process while out of the country to ensure that the ring was stunning! Rude and unacceptable service of overpriced products – My husband and I first went into Roslyn in the summer of 2003 to purchase earrings for me to wear at my wedding. We now realize that we were overcharged for a pair of simple earrings.. However, we were happy at the time with the earrings and let it go chalking it up to inexperience. This summer, I lost one of the earrings. My husband went to Roslyn to ask if she could make a matching earring to give me for Christmas. She said "Sure. buy another pair so you have a gift to give her and we will exchange the earrings you bought in order to make the one earring - no problem". I decided to take up my husband on having the match made and called Roslyn on January 14th. It took two weeks and many phone calls for someone to finally call me back - Roslyn herself. Her first reaction was "no, you're calling too late. It's already the end of January". I pushed back and finally Roslyn grudgingly agreed to let me come in and have the earring appraised. On January 25th, I took in the original earring and the earrings to be returned. Roslyn said that the one earring could cost an additional $200 (this is over the $500 my husband paid for the earrings he gave me at Christmas - $700 for one earring ?!?!?). Roslyn also said the earring would be ready in a month. After repeated phone calls and visits to the store (where I was always treated incredibly rudely by the staff), the earring was finally ready two and half months after I brought them in. Although the earring is a perfect match, my husband and I vowed never to return to this store where the staff are clearly trained to be rude and where the practice of inattentive service to customer trickles from the top - in this case, Roslyn herself. Avoid this overpriced and rude establishment. NYC is a big place and you can find better products and service elsewhere.
RUDE, RUDE, RUDE - avoid this unnecessarily unfriendly, snooty establishment – Roslyn is incredibly rude -- setting the tone for an in-store experience that's tense, unwelcoming and unfriendly. I brought a ring in to be sized. The salesperson said "Roslyn will be right with you." Roslyn was on the phone at the time. She got off the phone and asked what I needed. I said that I needed a ring sized one size up. "Give it to me," she said, and I did - she JAMMED IT BACK ON MY FINGER and said "It looks OK - besides, in the winter your finger will be automatically go down a size." Then she WALKED AWAY, proceeding to talk with who I thought was another customer, but seemed to be a friend. It was so outrageous, it was almost funny.
I walked over and asked Roslyn, "So it can't be sized?" and she didn't even answer back - like, she was finished and couldn't be bothered. Just my opinion, but I think that she was totally disinterested in such a small financial transaction as a ring sizing. Once she saw that I wasn't looking to buy jewelry (that day), she was totally done with it.
Roslyn came off as extremely unfriendly, as well as disorganized, scattered, disinterested, aloof -- I would NEVER be inspired to spend a lot of money here, with that kind of treatment. Even Tiffany, which can be snooty at times, treats people like people, and when it comes to smaller things like servicing and sizing, they do a good job. Forget this wannabe-chic boutique.
Awful, I can't believe she stays in business – To make a very long story short, Roslyn was insanely rude to me and tried to keep a deposit I left for some jewelry (after assuring me I could cancel the order the next day, which I tried to do). Shopping here was the most absurd and unprofessional experience I have ever had. I am stunned that a person can run a business like this and stay open. If you are in the market for jewelry, go ANYWHERE but here.

Roslyn takes rudeness to a new level – Avoid this store at all costs -- unless you like to be overcharged by rude, pushy salespersons. If you insist on going here, be prepared for the ridiculous prices and strong-arm tactics. Some anecdotes so you get the idea: Roslyn insisted that I bought a particular necklace from her and claimed that she remembered me buying it because she was the only person who carried them. (My mom bought the necklace at Macy's). She refused to return a deposit on a item that I canceled one hour after ordering it. She actually instructed a salesgirl to stop showing me jewelry because I wasn't looking at expensive enough pieces.
Basically, she's just an unpleasant person. Don't be fooled by her excessive flattery. She'll be your best friend until she gets your money. Just don't expect her to be fair if you have a problem with her merchandise (which you inevitably will).
