  1. Great food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices, and the service was great.
  2. Totally reasonable prices.
  3. don't think the pretty chandeliers or cozy atmosphere are worth the overpriced food.
  4. Finally the sangria was expensive grape juice.
  5. Making an online reservation was totally convenient and the prices were totally reasonable.
  6. The food was near perfect and prices moderate.
  7. Tapas was very good -- very large portions which was unexpected.
  8. The food was overpriced.
  9. Great space - poor value
  10. Love all the chandeliers in the restaurant, it's always fun picking out which one you wish you had the money to buy.
  11. Not a whole lot of selection, nothing really 'wowed' me on the menu, it's a bit overpriced, the portions are small, and the food came out luke warm at best.
  12. little pricey for the small portion size of some of the tapas.
  13. It's a bit loud, service was slow but it was totally worth it i would 100% go back!
  14. And surprisingly, for the amount of delicious food we ate, plus wine and coffee, we thought the price was very reasonable.
  15. had a bad heache the rest of the night due to the cheap wine used in the sangria and it was way too strong.
  16. Good sangrias, some very unique decor from the furniture department store next door (although leaving the price tags on is a bit tacky but in the dark you won't notice.
  17. To those people who complain about the service and the small servings - 1) sitting and lingering over your dinner is a luxury - the thing that makes Pipa so great is that they understand this - they never rush you, 2) small plates = tapas, 3) the tapas po
  18. Completely unacceptable that a restaurant this expensive would think that it is acceptable to put couples together at communal tables.
  19. Food, service and ambience was great, but $112 for 4 tapas and a pitcher of Sangria is not good value
  20. really want to love this place b/c it's in such a fantastic, magical space, but I need a much better value.
  21. Very good portions of tapas, and the flatbreads were all wonderful.
  22. The only semi disappointing aspect was the price, considering how much food you get.

  1. Food was fine, and the place is pretty cool, but the waitstaff was slow and pretty clueless.
  2. within minutes, the professional hostess had secured seating for us, which much to our disappointment, was in a communal table.
  3. The service can be a little slow but not enough to be a big deal.
  4. The food is amazing and during times when it's slow, you are also able to order from sister restaurant Lucy's Kitchen.
  5. It's a bit loud, service was slow but it was totally worth it i would 100% go back!
  6. Boy howdy, some slow service.
  7. quick search later i found Pipa, a rustic bohemian meets grand ballroom feel with tasty and reasonably priced fare for all.
  8. We waited at the bar for only 10 minutes (we had a reservation) - can't complain about that, the restaurant was full and I enjoyed the lively atmosphere and music.
  9. This past Friday, the service was terrible (we waited 15 minutes for a menu), the food was mediocre (don't get the octopus, I am an octopus lover and it was not very good), the music terrible (I would expect more from an affilitation of ABC then to play p

Best Spanish Tapas I've EVER had

by PatrickM

Every single tapas dish that we had, from the octopus to the assorted meats and cheeses plate, to the absolutely delectable shrimp in white wine and butter sauce, was above perfect.

They sell chandeliers from the store next door, which are lit and on display for potential buyers as well. I highly, highly recommend this place and can't say enough about it.

  • Pros: Gorgeous decor, food, excellent service
  • Cons: Price, if you care.

Good Food but was the sangria just fruit juice?

by Run20

The chandeliers are cute but after a while it seems weird that there are so many. The food was good however they need to relax on the garlic. Good thing I went for Brunch… We ordered the pitcher of sangria which between the two of us we had 3 glasses each. I would normally be a little buzzed off of 3 glasses of sangria but I did not feel a thing.

At the end of the meal the waiter just placed the check in between us and didn’t even ask us if we wanted anything else… Drink? Dessert? The place was empty and it wasn’t like people were waiting for our seat. I would have ordered a marg!

Overall I am glad I went but I would not go again. Just felt like I was at my grandparents house and not out in NYC.

  • Pros: Mushrooms/ sausages
  • Cons: Very greasy & too much garlic

Nice experience but not rushing back

by mjr6791

We went to Pipa last night with another couple. Our table was ready promptly for our 7pm reservation. Early by city standards. The place was packed when we left around 9:00. The restaurant is truly gorgeous. The seating is tight but that doesn't really bother me. I felt that the service was good. Not overly friendly, but whatever. I don't need my waiter to be my best bud. He was attentive and brought our food out consistently. The reason why I will not be rushing back is because I felt the food was just ok. Yes, certain dishes were very good such as the Hongo Flat Bread and the Piggy Back Dates. But I've had better elsewhere. The calamari which I had heard so many good things about was grossly oversalted and greasy. The cheese plate was tasty but it's kind of difficult to mess up cheese. The sangria was ok. Too sweet for my taste. I will say that we were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill - 1 pitcher of sangria, 2 beers, and 9 tapas later our bill was only $145!!! That is a steal for a nice dinner out in NYC. While I enjoyed my evening I feel like there are far better restaurants in the city to spend a night at.

  • Pros: beautiful restaurant
  • Cons: food was just ok

Amazing tapas

by BooStuff21

If you are looking for delicious tapas, Pipa is the place to go. I orgered about 9 different plates with my aunt and not one was a dissapointent. We wished the plates kept coming and coming but our waistbands were tight and of course with tapas, like sushi - you order a bunch of things and then it ads up at the end.

It's a bit loud, service was slow but it was totally worth it i would 100% go back!

  • Pros: variety, atmosphere, sangria
  • Cons: small plates add up to one big bill

Good Outing

Contributor

The mood at Pipa was warm and casual. The variety and the quality of the Tapas menu was very good. The service was good, however it would have been more pleasurable if the servers smiled and had been a little more attentive at the beginning of our meal.

They had live flamenco music and a dancer. They were entertaining but it was difficult to talk when they were performing. However, their short sets allowed diners to pay attention to them for a few minutes and then return to their table conversations. I think if they worked on the acoustics that would have provided a better ambience.

Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Pipa and would recommend it to my friends.
