Editorial Review for Puck Fair – by Otis Rubottom

The Scene
Almost cavernous in its sweep, Puck Fair's bi-level main floor is all dark wood and muted murals. The wall behind the long bar--it stretches 40 feet or so into the back of the room--is covered in a collage of rugby images, the faces of Irish schoolchildren and traditional song lyrics attesting to the legend of Puck.

The Draw
Live music in the loft area nicely complements the casual feel of the place. The pub menu, drolly dubbed "Puck Fare," offers burgers, salads, bangers and mash and a tasty Irish breakfast with several types of sausage. Puck Fair's denizens are a pleasantly mixed bunch. Post-shopping drinkers, couples tucked into the candle-lit booths and ex-pats extolling the virtues of the on-tap Guinness (very fine) are all part of the landscape here. Given its location, it's a perfect place to begin or end your downtown affairs in good company.

Insider Tips

Where to Sit

The downstairs room is more intimate, though somewhat dungeon-like, with floor-to-ceiling bars as a partition from the stairway.

Great selection of beer and I like the crowd that gathers there. Especially fun on Thursday nights after work...

I have hung out here a few times with friends. It is a nice bar but and the bartenders are nice but sometimes they just aren't interested in bein there i know people have their off days, but bartenders are supossed to be the life and soul of the bar. Haven't tried the food before so i cant comment but they seem busy enough.

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: Moody staff
