The Scene
Cannon's big enough to have lots of lessons, a snowboarding school, children's center and terrain park, but too small to build on-site lodging. For that you've got to drive a few miles to one of the many inns in Jefferson, Franconia or Lincoln. And you won't find any nightlife, but there are plenty of good drinking spots in North Woodstock or Lincoln.
The Slopes
Drive too fast through Franconia Notch and you can accidentally end up in the parking lot of Cannon Mountain. Which wouldn't be such a terrible thing. Cannon has three exciting side-by-side steeps (Avalanche, Paulie's Folly and Zoomer) and the only aerial tramway in New Hampshire.

Cannon Mountain is home to some of New englands most challenging terrain. With virtually no lines, a a ten minute drive from Lincoln, it is the perfect mid winter mountain, with no crowds! It tends to snow more here than other ski resorts in NH and the snow is fast, skiers who love a challenge and want to let their skis go would enjoy a good day at Cannon. Watch for the bad days though, as great a mountain as Cannon is, on a bad day (which isn't too often) it can be one of the most challenging in the US! Impossible not to find, just go up I 93 and you will drive right into it, and enjoy. The prices are reasonable and the staff friendly, and with the shorter lines, you will ski 5 times more runs than all the crowds at Loon or Waterville Valley!
Pros: No Lines!, AWESOME terrain!, Great Prices!
Cons: , windy days are rough!, Watch for frostbite!
