Best Diner in NYC? What a joke.
by cybersharque
Westway is cheap, and it's passable under some circumstances. But there are problems.
First off, do not try the counter service. Even on a crazy busy weekend morning, there will be at most one or two people at the counter. There's a reason for that: the counter service is astonishingly bad. Unless you like being ignored for 15 minutes, then given a meal that someone out in the restaurant sent back. Since you're right there at the passthrough, you can't miss that little twist.
And if you're a party of one, don't bother: they will no longer seat you in the dining room, even if there re a half dozen open booths.
If you are dying of hunger at 2:00 AM and you're right there, Westway is tolerable, but never good. But they are cheap.
- Pros: Cheap.
- Cons: Abysmal service.
Tiny omelettes
by NativeNYer5296
Westway serves the smallest omelettes I've ever seen in a New York City diner. They should be ashamed of themselves. They can also be very aggressive about turning over your table when they're busy. The cashier never asks you how everything was; doubtlessly, they don't care.
- Pros: The restaurant is a good size.
- Cons: At Westway, you're just a number.
Fun Diner, Yummy Breakfast
by b00pi3flak3s
I like the breakfast hours (7AM-11AM) here more than any of the other 20 hours its open for. The staff is nicer, the food tastes better (I've tested this theory @ 4AM and I've been right each time), and I wish the prices were cheaper. It does the job on for your average Greek diner.
- Pros: Service, Food, Delivery
- Cons: Bathrooms, Desserts
