Worst Birthday Experience.. I just had my birthday here on Friday. It honestly had to be one of the worst experiences I've had. I called a month before hand to make sure that I had a table for my friends and I, and to make sure of the prices for my friends. They even told me that I got to drink free because it was for my birthday. I called twice to make sure everything was perfect. As soon as I got there they had everything messed up. They didn't give me the prices they told me they were going to give my friends, and they didn't want to let me drink for free. I was so upset, I spoke with the manager, and he agreed to the prices they promised me and gave me a bracelet, so I can drink for free, and then the manager went back inside. As I was trying to get inside, the bouncer wouldn't let me in, saying that my bracelet wasn't a valid bracelet. That honestly was the last straw and it made me cry. After literally crying for like an hour, cause I was SO upset that the night was ALL wrong, the manager, finally agreed to give me a table (which they promised me when I called a month before), the discounted prices for my friends (which were they prices that they promised me when I called a month before) and let me drink for free (which they also promised me). I was so upset that it took me crying about it for an hour to finally give me all the stuff they promised me, that I didn't have fun at all. I barely drank, and left the place sober (which usually doesn't happen to people on their birthday) a couple of hours afterward. Honestly has to be the WORSE birthday experience I've ever had.

A stylish number with a dancer's heart and a poet's soul. The Scene

From dance parties to live bands to poetry, the scene at this Village spot is as changeable as the giant lava lamp on the main bar. Even upstairs, where dramatic white circles punctuate black leather couches and the sleek bar appears to shift color, this club has a retro feel.

The Draw

For students from nearby NYU looking to burn off stress, it's the DJ dance parties offering everything from '60s rock to reggae. But while music might be the mainstay, spoken word is the true star of this venue. Monday nights feature an open mic, a reading by an invited poet and usually a slam. Drinks are two-for-one all night, but what's most intoxicating is the diverse, friendly crowd's passion for poetry.

A great no attitude dance club with a roofdeck.. 2 indoor floors each with its own DJ, dance floor, bar and lounge PLUS a rooftop area with a bar and seating areas. Everyone that works here is always super friendly and both staff and customers are untypically attitude free.

Violent, dangerous staff. I've never written a review in my life, but I had to to let people know to NEVER go to this bar. My friends had a big birthday party here. My boyfriend and his friends got too drunk and took their shirts off. A bouncer came up to him and told him to put his shirt back on. Before he could respond the bouncer pushed him 15 feet to another bouncer who put my bf in a stranglehold, carried him down 3 flights of stairs like that, and then 3 other bouncers jumped on my bf- all the while he was gasping for breath. What's especially distressing is that they seem to have a protocol set up for this kind of violence because 2 other bouncers came out of nowhere to block me and my bf's friends from coming down the stairs to see what was going on. When I asked the guy who strangled my boyfriend what his name was, he said, "My dick." The doorman then insisted he could not help us in contacting management about this. This was the craziest, most randomly violent act I have ever witnessed.

Great roofdeck + happy hour. 2 for 1 drinks after 5 every weekday and awesome roofdeck. Only downside is when the deck is closed

Sweaty Saturday night (9-13-08). The bouncers at the door were nice, no attitude. Bar has three floors, but the Bar's first floor is actually the building's second floor...Atmosphere was okay, but nothing special. The roof top had no view, you only see other building walls and the furniture was all plastic and since we went the day after it rained, everything was still wet. The place gets packed around 12pm and filled with an older crowd in the late 20's to mid 30's. The place was also a sausage-fest; ladies can go to meet guys, but i would say that the selection is below par. The place also gets very hot! Some patrons didnt use deodorant, so it got very stinky!

Cute place. My friend threw her birthday party here and we all showed up sans the birthday girl before 11pm. The bouncer said there was a cover fee (but when the birthday girl made the reservations-they said to just mention her name and we all get in for free) so we bitched to the bouncer and he decided to let the girls get in for free but the guys had to pay a cover charge. We got in there and it was DEAD. So we just got a few drinks and headed up to the roof. The roof was comfy, a cute place, the place started picking up around 12 and by 1 all the floors were packed with people. The place was ok...just like any other typical bar/lounge. We all decided to leave when it became a sausage-fest and the guys were getting all grabby.

Avoid it like the plague. This place was a travesty from start to finish. A $10 cover for a birthday party and I get upstairs and there are probably 12 people in the entire place. Overpriced drinks. Surly attitude from all bouncers and assorted security cretins. An outside area crammed full with uncomfortable seats and cheesy redbull decor. Seriously low class clientele.

Back downstairs, the "DJ" plays 3 Sean Paul songs in a row. Awful, I was so happy to leave an hour later. I would only go back with a flamethrower.

Good mixed crowd, no attitude. Drinks outside are great.

My boyfriend took me there for my birthday after dinner at Union Sq Cafe. Staff was polite and friendly. Highly recommended.
