“It is simply the best if you like Steak, Veal, and atmosphere.”
“Apple pie a la mode was the perfect finish to this great dinner.”
“Say hi to Chris at the bar if you want the best drinks in town too.”
“We had pre theater dinner here on February 20, 2004 and really enjoyed the food and ambiance.”
“The manager took time to visit with us and to add his "Happy Anniversary" wishes.”
“The palm is a wonderful steakhouse with great steaks and a good price value ratio!”
Along with Keens, Sparks, and Peter Luger, this is part of the Classic Quartet of old-time New York steakhouses, and by no means the worst. The room has an intimacy not to be found in its rivals and the thick, narrow strip steaks are of uniformly high quality and the wine list is sweeping. The cost is high but not too much for a unique restaurant such as this one.
7 out of 10. I came here with my wife last Saturday evening, before attending a friend's party party at a club nearby. Service was very good, we were seated right away (for a 9pm reservation) and the waiter and circling busboys were attentive. They were running a promotion for a 4-course meal for $49.95 which was a great value. We both had the filet, which was good, but not the best weve had...the sides were good but not great as well. The cheesecake was tremendous though. Not sure that I'd pay $45-$50 for a steak here...but would return if a similar promotion was running.
True high-end dining at its finest. This is one of my favorite restaurants! I recommend this to anyone who truly wants to experience fine dining and feel like a celebrity. The service is always first-class, the food is exquisite and prepared to perfection (they will switch your dish if you don't like it!) and they have the best atmosphere! Perfect if you want to impress someone or just want to treat yourself to the best dining experience.
Great for a Special Occasion. Our family truly enjoys the Palm. We have dined at 7 different Palm locations and have yet to be disappointed. We have tried many others Peter Luger's, Ben Bensen, Sparks, DelFrisco's, Ruth Chris, Christ Cella, Shula's, Keen's Chop House, Morton's, Gallaghers, and while each had something to offer the Palm has been our overall favorite. We went for our anniversary and the hostess greeted us with "Happy Anniversary". We had reservations on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately. The shrimp cocktail was huge, the steaks were done as requested, my son said the french fries were "the best", creamed spinach was excellent, and the desserts were tasty and huge. (We ended up with enough chocolate cake to take home for the next day. The wait staff was very eficent and knowledgable. The manager took time to visit with us and to add his "Happy Anniversary" wishes. I would hope you would try the Palm West Side, and I feel confident you will have a great time, with a super meal.
Attended Happy Hour and Appetizers. I attended happy hour here and it was a fun time. Good service and food/drinks. Would love to try the food...
Attitude goes with the territory. It's hard to find fault here!. A B/F brought me here as a treat, the hostess was sweet, the steaks were out of this world but the service was a little stiff and snooty !. As I said, goes with the territory !.
what happend to the best cheese cake you used to have???.
I was there with my family for my wife birthday, and we asked for my wife favored cheese cake.
but for the first time in many years celebrating my wife birthday at palm restaurant (this is where we met)the cheese cake was completely different ,and we where very disappointed.
so please, look for a new pastry chef.
it was nothing near the years before.
the rest of the meal was great as always.
DINING AT A CERTAIN LEVEL BUT.... ..Nowhere near what is should be and used to be. Excellent service but with the expansion into a chain the quality of the chefs has declined. Don't be fooled into thinking this is the best a steakhouse can be. If you're in the west side I suggest Gallaghers a few blocks away or a real find is the porterhouse at Knickerbocker's downtown! Try theirs and you'll never be back to the Palm again!
Good service!!.
Being steak-a-holics and having heard so much about the Palm before actually dining there we may have expected too much.
We both ordered the bone -in rib eye, which was cooked perfectly to temp (rare) but wasn't as flavorful as a ribeye should be. It was average - not horrible, just not great.
The salads were very good, as was the Lobster bisque my husband had.
I ordered the Steak Tartare as an appetizer and was disappointed. Rather than finely chopping or grinding the meat is was very coarsely chopped into chunks containing a lot of fat - not very appetizing.
The service was very attentive, and informative. Good wine list. Interesting decor, talented artist!
Very good. Service was A+. Meal was not overall that creative but really good. Everything was done they way you would expect. Location was good. No surprises just very good all around.
Large portions.... I was overwhelmed by the enormous portions brought out for the table to share specifically the usually over-priced, business person, seafood special...Well done!
