An oasis in a sea of bustle. This is my living room in mid town. This is where i can settle in for a quiet 'pint' in the evening after a long day and not be bothered by the hustle of outside. The staff are accommodating, warm and friendly; always there to serve you but not pushy. When i have guests in town or i am catching a play i stop by for a great bite. Try the bangers and mash on the ethnic side or the scallops on the eclectic side. The memu is extensive and great value. Enjoy this place with a pint of plain or a glass of Sancere.

Midtown Oasis. The welcome and ambiance were warm on a bitterly cold Good Friday this past Easter when I walked into St Andrews looking for a break from the Mid Town hustle and bustle. It was the perfect storm of chatty attentive staff, good natured patrons, satisfying food and ample drink options that held me hostage there for most of my weekend stay. Whether popping in for a swifty or staying for the night, you won't leave disappointed.

ribs to die for. My wife and I stumbled upon this place while on holiday in New York. From the moment we walked in the door we new we had make the right decision. The hostess greeted us with a big smile and we could not get over the selection of whiskey (250)and all the bar tenders in kilts. We had the prix fixe dinner which was the best meal and best deal we had seen during our stay. The waitress suggested the Wine dinner for $49.95 which was a bargain but it was late and we were tired. Our meal was excellent. My husband the chicken and I had the salmon. Our waitress suggested stopping by the grill on the way out and enjoy the celtic music but we were tired. Its a pitty we did not find St. Andrews a little earlier in our visit. We hope to return. Its a 'must do' if your visiting or even for the locals. Thanks we had a great time.

Best bar food in the city!!. I love this place. Have been coming here since their doors opened and have to say that they have the best bar food in the city. Have had almost everything on the menu but the "stand outs" for me are their awesome ribs and the Horseradish Salmon. If you are hungry and thristy in mid-town definately give this place a try, you won't regret it!!

Truly nice people. We've all been to plenty of places that try a little too hard to be casual and interactive, St Andrews isn't one of those places. The staff is so genuine and friendly it can't be an act. Our waitress was so wonderful we hated to have to leave. I'm a scotch drinker but the two other people were new to it. Asked for suggestions for scotches and everyone was exactly as discribed. Oysters were WONDERFULLY fresh and tasty and thier pretzels (I know it's just a pretzel) are exactly what you want.

Strongly recommend

Delicious food and drinks anytime of the day or night. St. Andrews is a fantastic restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and innovative. The menu has choices for every type of customer and the food always stands out in presentation and taste. I always leave St. Andrews totally satisfied with both the food and the service. From the moment I walk through the door and have a drink with the friendly and attentive bartenders to the moment I get seated in the dining room the experience is impeccable. I will always come back to St. Andrews and highly reccommend it. At night after a show one cannot go wrong stopping in and enjoying the food, service, and ambience. Truly an excellent place.

Times Square Oasis. If I have to go out in the Times Square, for lunch/dinner/drinks, I generally pick St. Andrews. The food is above average for pub fare - I've always enjoyed the fish dishes (crab cakes/salmon/oysters). Plus they have an excellent beer list in bottle and draft (20 oz pints).

Favorite restaurant. Just left St Andrews, one of my favorite places in NYC. Can't believe anyone did not enjoy it there. The service is always great, guys in kilts and smiling waitresses make you feel so at home. The ribs- to die for, the salmon - delicious and all that scotch - trying to work my way through the list.

Try it you'll love it as much as I do.

Good food, good service, not too loud or expensive. The staff was very tolerant of our ever-expanding selves. Our waitress always wore a smile-- despite her refusal to take (or even touch!) a drink club card when it was offered to her. Ah well, anybody know how to say "Don't worry, no cooties" in Scots Gaelic? The food was excellent, though the "haggis" was more like shephard's pie, than the real thing. meat and potatoes... where's the stomach? Ribs were excellent, but somehow unauthentically Scotch. --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC Drinkers

wear are the Kilts and hairy legs?. This restaurant is sort of bland. Everyone was very nice and friendly and relaxed. The food came out pretty fast and the waitress was very attentive. I had the trout which was bland and my friend had the Salmon which was delicious. I had the haggis which was fabulous and my friend had the Caesar salad which was nothing much. For dessert we had sticky toffee pudding, the most delicious thing on earth. Order it.

The bill was $108 which is very reasonable.
