A Gem!

by SimSteb

This is a lovely, understated restaurant. My husband & I stopped here for a glass of wine and ended up staying for dinner. Great ambiance above 44th street across from the Majestic theater. I was surprised that there were not more patrons at this restaurant. The food was excellent, the service was great, the place was really clean. We had the soup of the day (vegetable lentil) and it was excellent. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked, the veggies were fresh and crisp, the baked potato was earthy and delicious. Lobster ravioli was enjoyed as was the shrimp & scallop scampi. I will definitely come back to this restaurant. It's conveniently located near theaters at 44th & 8th and wasn't crowded on a Thursday night.‎

Horrible

My husband myself and son ate there this last week. The food was good, but....One of the workers in there was ticked off about something and wanted to fight another worker and was using foul language(I mean FOUL) and no one would do anything about it....It F this and F that....And there were children in the eating area....Very uncalled for, we will never eat here again or recommend this place to anyone

Great View, Great Location - Food not what it used to be

by BensonhurstTransplant

My wife & I generally went to Robert Emmett's 4 or 5 times a year, whenever we'd see a show in the mid-40's.

Rob Emmett's is a perfect location with a FANTASTIC menu.

However, whoever is cooking lately hasn't mastered the menu or the timing of the Kitchen. We ate their 2 weeks ago when we saw the show "HAIR" around the corner and the other night when we went to see "God of Carnage" also around the corner on 45th.

Of these 2 most recent visits, this week was even worse than 2 weeks ago. The appertizers were cold & greasy and the bread was re-heated in a microwave - tough, chewy almost stale.

The main courses: one was kept under a heat lamp & dried out yet was still cool and another was cool to the touch & to the tounge.

Please don't get me wrong, ALL the food was fresh and tasted good (except the bread) but whoever is working the kitchen didn't know what they were doing.

Also, and very surprisingly, the drinks were watered down. I don't think they did it on purpose - I think they had glasses with ice arleady in them & it had melted prior to pouring our Scotch.

They also seemed tobe runninga huge space heater on the 1st floor & there was an order. It smelt as if the basement had flooded and they were trying to dry/air out the place.

We'd go back one last time since we've ben going here 3-4 times a year for the past 4 years. We'll give it 1 last shot!

  • Pros: Close to Broadway Shows, Great View of 8th Ave, nice decor
  • Cons: Food Was Cold, Service was spotty, but I'd still to back

Awful Customer Service

by amamamamam

Dec. 1, 2007: Service was awful. Waited over an hour for dinner. Sat down for dinner at 6:05 and waited till 7:20 and still had no dinner. Had to ask for bread while we waited. The manager and the waiter kept saying it was coming. I asked to speak to the owner and was told no. Waited over an hour for dinner and was told by the manager to leave, dinner would not be out of the kitchen in time to see an 8 P.M. show. Customer relations was awful. Skip Robert Emmett's

  • Pros: seated quickly
  • Cons: no food, awful service, rude manager
